The shortened season is jam-packed full of surprises. To offset these unforeseen circumstances, I introduce you to the Wednesday streamer article. We will take a look at a few hitters and pitchers readily available to get you some much-needed help for a mid-week pickup.
When choosing my daily hitter streamers, I examine their platoon splits, lineup position, and pitching matchup. With pitchers, I account for the opposing lineup, team ballpark, and recent performance to help make my decision. You can even use these picks for your DFS lineups!
Each of my streamers will be rostered in between 0-40% of Yahoo leagues, with a mixed focus on both shallow and deeper formats. Today, I will be providing a streamer for each position, including two starting pitchers. Let’s take a look at the Monday slate and dig out some streamer gems to help you start the week with a bang!

Hitter Streamers for 8/12 - Infielders
Austin Nola (C, SEA, RHB) - 14% Rostered
Matchup: @ TEX LHP Jordan Lyles
Nola is putting up a .279/.340/.488 slash line, which is very similar to his career numbers. He hits LHP/RHP equally in terms of batting average but has more power against southpaws. What has lead to the added strength in his game? Nola is hitting breaking balls better than ever, nearly a .150 better OPS against LHP than RHP. His opponent is Jordan Lyles, who has a 5.56 ERA and 1.55 WHIP. Nola is a reliable pickup at a shallow position.
Eric Thames (1B/OF, WAS, LHB) - 7% Rostered
Matchup: @ NYM RHP Walter Lockett
Eric Thames is scorching the ball in his limited opportunities. He boasts the 94th percentile in exit velocity and 97th percentile Hard Hit%. Thames is yet to smack out of the park, but the Statcast data suggests he's been a little unlucky. He faces off against Walter Lockett, who gets the ball to start because Marcus Stroman opted out this week. Lockett had an ERA over 9.00 and is not an MLB caliber talent. He is going to be crushed by Eric Thames and the Nationals.
Asdrubal Cabrera (2B/3B, WAS, SHB) - 16% Rostered
Matchup: @ NYM RHP Walter Lockett
Asdrubal is swinging a very live bat. In the last week, Cabrera has gone nine for 19 with two home runs and five RBI. He will have plenty of opportunities to collect more RBI with great OBP players ahead of him, like Juan Soto and Howie Kendrick. Much like the mention above with Eric Thames, his opposition on the mound is very hittable Walter Lockett. Play Cabrera as much as you can until he cools off.
Marwin Gonzalez (1B/3B/OF, MIN, SHB) - 10% Rostered
Matchup: vs. MIL LHP Eric Lauer
Marwin Gonzalez is continuously finding his way on-base. He is hitting .288 with a .362 OBP in 58 plate appearances. His production forced the Twins to move him up in the batting order to the number five-hitter. His matchup is against Eric Lauer, who is likely better suited for the bullpen and won't go deep into this game.
Andres Gimenez (SS, NYM, LHB) - 12% Rostered
Matchup: vs. WAS RHP Anibal Sachez
Gimenez is a young fresh face in the Mets organization. He is spraying the ball to all areas of the field with his 87% contact rate. When Gimenez gets on base, he has used his 28.8 ft/second sprint speed to swipe three bags. Stolen bases are harder to find that a needle in the haystack. Scoop up Gimenez and see if he can help you in that category.
Hitter Streamers for 8/12 - Outfielders
Corey Dickerson (OF, MIA, LHB) - 15% Rostered
Matchup: @ TOR RHP Nate Pearson
Corey Dickerson is a platoon player in the Marlins outfield. He was acquired this offseason to help bolster the club's lineup against right-hand pitching. While he hits for nearly the same batting average regardless of the pitcher's handedness, he has much more power vsavs RHP his .242 ISO suggests. Let's see if Dickerson can take a Nate Pearson's fastball or slider for a ride today.
Brandon Nimmo (OF, NYM, LHB) - 13% Rostered
Matchup: vs. WAS RHP Anibal Sanchez
Nimmo is the New York Mets leadoff hitter and excels when facing right-hand pitchers. His .847 OPS is nearly .080 points higher than when he encounters a left-handed pitcher. Nimmo is more of an OBP player than a batting average hitter. He draws a favorable matchup against struggling veteran, Anibal Sanchez, whose fastball velocity is down. Nimmo has many tools and can steal a base or hit a home run if played.
Jesse Winker (OF, CIN, LHB) - 5% Rostered
Matchup: vs. KC RHP Brad Keller
Jesse Winker is another platoon bat that is fun to roster against right-handed pitchers. Winker has a .310/.442/.500 slash line with .942 OPS in 42 at-bats. The excellent news for Winker is he's starting to hit LHP as well. The Statcast data backs up Winker's production as he is above the 80th percentile in xBA, exit velocity, and xwOBA. Its a home game for the Reds, which means Winker will have a better chance of putting one out due to the small dimensions of the Great American Ball Park.
Pitcher Streamers for 8/12
Zach Eflin (RHP, PHI) vs. BAL - 9% Rostered
In his previous appearance, Eflin handled the stacked Yankees lineup sufficiently before getting pulled after four innings pitched. Eflin made a drastic pix mix change by throwing his sinker nearly 64% of the time. This change is massive because, in previous seasons, he favored the four-seam fastball. The big difference between the two pitches is the sinker induces weaker contact and gets hit for groundballs more frequently. Philly should have a strong chance to beat the Orioles and if Eflin can stay in long enough, he will pick up the win.
Zach Davies (RHP, SDP) @ LAD - 4% Rostered
Zach Davies has looked very reliable through three starts with 2.68 ERA and 0.83 WHIP. The key to his success is the limiting hitters from reaching the base paths. Opposing batters have an on-base percentage under .290 against all four of his pitchers. Davies will need every bit of his 13:1 K:BB ratio to slow down the Los Angeles Dodgers.
