Drew Pomeranz Tapped For Save Monday
Drew Pomeranz breezed to his third save Monday against the Los Angeles Dodgers, retiring the side in order. Although incumbent closer Kirby Yates has struggled with a 10.38 ERA, it’s possible Pomeranz was tapped to face Dodgers lefty Max Muncy to start the frame and stayed to finish the contest. While the Padres have only five saves as a team, Pomeranz leads the squad with three. The 31-year-old southpaw has been nearly unhittable this season, holding a 0.00 ERA, 0.55 WHIP and 12.3 K/9 through eight appearances. With the Friars seemingly taking a matchup-based approach to closing games, Pomeranz’ fantasy stock continues to climb. He should be rostered in all formats.
