Daily Fantasy College Football: FanDuel Picks for 10/3

We have an incredible slate of college football action scheduled Saturday.

A few of these games - one with the highest over/under total set in Vegas - are particularly appealing for DFS contests.

FanDuel CFB DFS Quarterback Picks

There's no doubt in my mind you're going to put up solid points if you roster Trevone Boykin or Pat Mahomes, as they face off against average to below-average defenses in games that should both be shootouts. However, I'm fading both as Mahomes isn't 100% healthy and the public is going to be all over Boykin. Moreover, with a $10,000 price tag, rostering Boykin doesn't leave me with enough cash to roster the playmakers I want on my team at running back and wide receiver.

Baker Mayfield (QB, Oklahoma) - $8,900

There's a lot of reasons to like Mayfield with the numbers he's put up already and the skill guys he surrounds himself with on the Sooner offense. Aside from numbers, he looks comfortable running the offense in what is just his first season on the field under Coach Stoops. Additionally, I love the pace the Sooners are running their offense with and the fact that West Virginia works with the same quickness leads me to believe this game easily eclipses the over/under of 58 Vegas has set.

Greg Ward, Jr. (QB, Houston) - $9,200

Greg Ward made a complete mockery of the Texas State defense last week, putting 274 yards through the air in addition to 91 on the ground. Oh, and the six touchdowns weren't too bad either. He's eclipsed 30 FanDuel points in each contest this season and he's one of my favorite dual-threat quarterbacks to roster. This weekend he gets a weak Tulsa defense in a game with an over/under of 81 and a spread of less than a touchdown. The Cougar offense should have the pedal to the floor all day and don't be surprised to see Ward account for 300+ yards of total offense again.

Jerrod Heard (QB, Texas) - $8,000

This list wouldn't be complete without a third dual-threat guy to target, right? Sure, Heard didn't have the performance I was hoping for against Oklahoma State, but that's actually one of the reasons I like him this week in tournament formats. The public is going to fade him and keep his ownership low. On Saturday, he and his Longhorn teammates are underdogs in a game with a real high over/under against a team isn't exactly known for their prowess on the defensive side of the ball, to put it lightly.

 

FanDuel CFB DFS Running Back Picks

DeAndre Washington (RB, Texas Tech) - $7,400

The Texas Tech offense takes a hit with Mahomes health in question for Saturday, but I think Washington ends up being the beneficiary here. He just put up a career high 188 yards last week and the Red Raider offense is going to rely on him to move the ball down the field once again. Baylor is a very good football team, but with the pace at which they play, Texas Tech should have plenty of possessions and scoring opportunities. He may be a popular pick, but he's also moderately priced and I'm definitely going to have a few shares.

Dalvin Cook (RB, FSU) - $7,700

Cook was held in check and a little banged up a few weeks ago in a low scoring affair at Boston College. The beautiful thing about that is his price is finally below 9K. As for his apparent rib injury, Cook was cleared to return to the field but his carries were limited for precautionary reasons. With the Seminoles coming off the bye week, Cook is fully healthy and rested. He should be able to run all over a Demon Deacon defensive unit that Jordan Howard ran wild against last weekend.

 

FanDuel CFB DFS Wide Receiver Picks

I felt like this section needs an intro as you won't see any Texas Tech or Baylor wide receivers listed below. Yes, that game has an over/under of 90, which is the highest ever set in Vegas. Every publication (rightfully so) has listed guys like Corey Coleman and Jakeem Grant as their top receivers this week. I know that, you know that, your mother and sisters know that. That said, I'm not fading those guys, but I thought pointing out a few you might not see touted elsewhere would be more helpful than highlighting more of the same.

Keevan Lucas (WR, Tulsa) - $7,400

I love me some Keevan Lucas. He faced a strong Sooner defense last week and still didn't disappoint, catching five passes for 84 yards and two scores. He's the favorite target of his talented QB Dane Evans and he's got an even better (see also: faces a much, much weaker defense) matchup come Saturday. As I pointed out in my Greg Ward, Jr. writeup, this game not only features an incredibly high over/under, but a low spread, too. Both teams should be in attack mode all four quarters.

Demarcus Ayers (WR, Houston) - $6,700

I don't normally do a whole lot of stacking, but If I'm going to this Saturday, it's going to be with the pair of Ward, Jr. and Demarcus Ayers. Ayers has proved he's a reliable target and home run threat any time he's on the field. He's coming off a highly productive game against Texas State and I think he rides that momentum for another big day Saturday. The price is also low enough for me to pair him with a few other stud wideouts.

Aaron Burbridge (WR, MSU) - $6,100

Despite being Cook's favorite target at wide receiver, Burbridge could be a sleeper/lesser-owned guy this weekend thanks to a less-than-stellar performance last Saturday. He totaled just four catches last weekend but still saw seven targets and this weekend he has a really nice matchup against a weak Purdue secondary.

 

FanDuel CFB DFS Tight End Picks

Tyler Higbee (TE, WKU) - $4,100

Higbee is becoming almost an automatic plug and play for me. He's got so many things going for him in that he has a very talented quarterback who relies on him in a pass-heavy offense and once again this week they face a team that isn't going to be able to slow him down. He's now scored four touchdowns on the season to go with 354 yards receiving.
