Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Outlooks
Some of the top names include Spencer Horwitz, Noelvi Marte, Cole Carrigg, Colt Emerson, and Tony Santillan, among others. We recap why these players rostered under 70% in Yahoo! leagues should be on your waiver wire radar:
Spencer Horwitz, Pittsburgh Pirates
Pirates first baseman Spencer Horwitz has cooled off slightly while navigating his most productive season as a professional. Horwitz is hitting just .160 over his last seven games, but the overall production remains strong for the 28-year-old. He is slashing .277/.387/.450 with a .837 OPS and nine home runs across 70 games this season.
Now in his second year with Pittsburgh, Horwitz has lowered his K% from 17.8% to 13.3% while increasing his walk rate, showing clear growth in his offensive profile. The recent slump should not concern fantasy managers, who may want to take advantage of this buy-low opportunity before Horwitz gets back on track.
Noelvi Marte, Cincinnati Reds
Cincinnati Reds outfielder/third baseman Noelvi Marte has logged just 67 plate appearances at the big-league level so far this season, hitting .206/.254/.382 with three home runs, three RBI, seven runs scored, and four stolen bases. After getting off to an awful start to the year, the 24-year-old was optioned to Triple-A in mid-April and did not make his MLB return until early June. Since being recalled, Marte's playing time has been sporadic, and he's been unable to carve out an everyday role.
Marte has typically posted poor defensive metrics in the outfield, which limits his real-life value. Still, Marte is an intriguing bat for fantasy managers, as he has three home runs and three stolen bases in just 36 plate appearances in June. Across 360 plate appearances with the Reds in 2025, he hit .263 with 14 homers and 10 steals.
If Marte can re-emerge as a regular in Cincinnati, he offers five-category upside at the plate. Real impediments are standing in the way of a potential breakout for Marte, but he could still be worth targeting on the waiver wire.
Cole Carrigg, Colorado Rockies
Across 42 plate appearances since making his MLB debut on June 9, Colorado Rockies outfielder Cole Carrigg is hitting .222/.333/.528 with three home runs, eight RBI, seven runs scored, and one stolen base. With Rockies outfielder Brenton Doyle (oblique) on the injured list, Carrigg has taken over as the team's everyday center fielder.
The power he's shown at the big-league level so far comes as a bit of a surprise, as he hit just six home runs across 257 Triple-A plate appearances before his promotion. He's logged an 11.1% barrel rate in a small sample with Colorado, but his 33.3% hard-hit rate may be a sign that his current power output is unsustainable.
Still, Carrigg's 14.3% walk rate and 21.4% strikeout rate are indicators of a strong plate approach. He also hit .338 with 30 stolen bases in 57 games at Triple-A in 2026, so he profiles as a significant speed threat once he gets more MLB games under his belt. For fantasy managers in need of speed and some batting average upside, Carrigg profiles as a viable waiver wire target
Colt Emerson, Seattle Mariners
Across 94 plate appearances since making his MLB debut in mid-May, Seattle Mariners infielder Colt Emerson is hitting .235/.309/.529 with six home runs, 16 RBI, 13 runs scored, and one stolen base. The 20-year-old has struggled with swing-and-miss, posting a 29.8% strikeout rate that may put a ceiling on his batting average.
However, he's shown off his power stroke in recent weeks and has already hit four home runs in June. Emerson has also established himself as the everyday shortstop in Seattle, with veteran Mariners infielder J.P. Crawford being moved from shortstop to third base upon his return from a hand injury earlier this month. Emerson's underlying contact metrics (5.3% barrel rate, 29.8% hard-hit rate) do not support his power output so far, which should be a bit of a red flag for fantasy managers.
Still, Emerson is considered to be one of the top prospects in all of baseball and hit seven home runs across 169 plate appearances at Triple-A this season before his promotion. Given his prospect pedigree and his role in Seattle, Emerson profiles as a priority waiver wire target.
Tony Santillan, Cincinnati Reds
Reds right-hander Tony Santillan picked up his fourth save of the season on Tuesday, working around a hit and striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning. Santillan appears to be strengthening his hold on the closer role in Cincinnati, receiving save opportunities in each of his last three games. He now leads all active Reds pitchers in saves with names like Emilio Pagan and Graham Ashcraft on the injured list.
While Santillan owns a 5.46 ERA and 1.50 WHIP this season, he has turned a corner recently, allowing no runs across his last six appearances after posting an 11.00 ERA in May. Fantasy managers should keep a close eye on the 26-year-old, as save chances could continue to come his way while Cincinnati's bullpen remains shorthanded.
