Should I Drop Joe Mixon in Fantasy Football?
Earlier this week, the Texans finally provided a long-awaited update on his status. As reported by Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the veteran running back is expected to return this season due to the foot injury.
Given this update, managers in all redraft formats should feel comfortable cutting ties with the 29-year-old ahead of Week 12. While he still technically could return late in the postseason if the Texans were to make a Super Bowl run, his odds of returning in the regular season appear to be significantly slim.
As a result, managers should expect rookie Woody Marks and veteran Nick Chubb to lead the Houston backup field for the final month of the regular season.

Who Should I Pick Up for Fantasy Football?
Managers looking to cut Mixon ahead of Week 12 should instead pivot to high-upside handcuffs. This past weekend, managers who got ahead of the curve and stashed Sean Tucker and Emanuel Wilson likely secured themselves high-end RB2s for the short term. This weekend, managers should look to stash Brian Robinson Jr. of the 49ers and Chris Rodriguez Jr. of the Commanders.

While Robinson is a more traditional handcuff, Rodriguez recently logged his highest snap share of the season and appears poised to lead the backfield following their Week 12 bye.
When looking at WRs, managers should consider stashing Chicago Bears rookie Luther Burden III. Burden is also coming off his highest workload of his debut campaign and appears to have claimed the No. 3 WR role in the offence.

Given this recent update, Mixon should not be rostered in any redraft leagues ahead of Week 12.
