The Los Angeles Angels optioned rookie second baseman Christian Moore to Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday. Moore joined the organization as the eighth overall pick in the 2024 draft, and it took him less than a year to earn his first promotion to the majors. After Moore slashed .350/.424/.575 with four home runs, 18 RBI, and three stolen bases over 20 games and 92 plate appearances in Salt Lake, the Angels were impressed enough to call him up in mid-June. Unfortunately for the Angels and Moore, the 22-year-old has struggled to a .195/.287/.336 line with four HRs, 12 RBI, 14 runs scored, and a 31.5% strikeout rate in his first 39 games and 130 plate appearances in the bigs. While Moore could still be the Angels' long-term solution at second base, Luis Rengifo figures to receive most of the playing time there for the rest of 2025.--Connor Byrne
