Fantasy Premier League - Best EPL Captain and Differential Picks for Gameweek 3 (2025)

Cole Palmer - EPL-DFS-Euro-lineup-picks-english-premier-league-daily-fantasy-soccer-fanduel-draftkings-icon

Our Fantasy Premier League (FPL) analysts give their best picks for Gameweek 3 of the English Premier League fantasy game. Expert advice on Captains, Differential Captains, and Low-Picked Players in the English Premier League.

Happy Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 3, RotoBallers! Many FPL managers are looking to make some transfers after a less-than-ideal start to the 2025/26 campaign. Let's see what our FPL analysts suggest for their Captains and low-owned differential picks in Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 3.

From Gameweek 1-38, Wale, Jamie, and Euan will give out their favorite captain, differential captain, and low-picked player for the upcoming gameweek. Don't forget to follow them all on X for up-to-the-minute and last-second Fantasy Premier League thoughts.

The Gameweek 3 deadline for the 2025-26 Fantasy Premier League season is Saturday, August 30, at 6:00 a.m. ET, when Fulham visits Chelsea. Check out the rest of our excellent soccer coverage as the squad gets you all set for every EPL and UCL slate with our EPL DFS lineup picks and betting picks.

How to Play Fantasy Premier League Guide

Whether it's your first, second, or 20th season playing Fantasy Premier League, don't miss our How to Play Fantasy Premier League Guide for the 2025-26 season. It covers squad building, transfers, and all the new strategies coming to this great game for the upcoming campaign.

Best Captains for Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 3

Each gameweek, Euan, Jamie, and Wale will provide their best Captaincy pick for the upcoming gameweek in the 2025-26 Fantasy Premier League season.

Wale (The FPL Manual): While Graham Potter is in charge, my goal is to target West Ham's porous defense every week. The Hammers have been so poor so far, and I plan to get in Wood and captain him for Gameweek 3. The goal projections favor the 33-year-old, and I hope he bags a hat-trick this weekend.

Jamie: Erling Haaland's fantasy managers might be put off by Manchester City's performance last weekend. However, the Norwegian has an excellent record against this week's opponents, Brighton. In five games against the Seagulls, he's scored five goals with one assist. He's bagged at least one return in each meeting.

Haaland scored a brace at Wolves on the opening weekend of the season. Last season, 11 of his 22 EPL goals came away from home. This keeps the 25-year-old Haaland as one of the best and safest options to captain this weekend.

Euan: Considering Bruno Fernandes has four points from the opening two games, people may expect this pick in the Differential portion of the article. However, I am choosing to keep the faith in Manchester United's talismanic midfielder and give him the armband versus Burnley.

The two points Fernandes acquired versus Fulham don't tell the whole story. The Portuguese veteran played the entire match, missed a penalty, and racked up 13 DefCons. If Bruno converts that penalty, FPL managers would've been staring at a double-digit haul.

Differential Captains for Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 3

Everyone loves to get a little different with the Captaincy picks once in a while. Every matchweek, our FPL analysts provide their favorite outside shots for a huge haul.

Wale: Another Forest pick makes the list this week. New signing, Dan Ndoye, has contributed a goal and an assist in his first two games for the Reds. Although he never plays the complete 90 minutes.

The Swiss midfielder has established himself as a regular for the club, and I expect him to contribute to the goals against West Ham in Gameweek 3. At only 2.2% ownership, Ndoye looks like a good differential captain to consider.

Jamie: West Ham is off to a dreadful start. Unfortunately, a trip to Nottingham Forest won't be at the top of their fixture wishlist. Behind the scenes, Forest is a bit of a mess, too—still, I'd look to captain Chris Wood or Morgan Gibbs-White versus the Hammers.

West Ham has had considerable issues dealing with crosses, and that is where Wood thrives. He'd be my first-choice captain for that reason.

Euan: Although it's scary to back the early kickoff, Joao Pedro is in my thoughts when Chelsea hosts Fulham. The Brazilian striker is likely on penalties if his teammate, Cole Palmer (groin), misses the London derby.

Fulham has conceded two penalties in the first two games of the season. It's not something actionable, but it's a strange trend. Chelsea's summer signing bagged a goal and two assists against West Ham last Friday and is set to put another London club to the sword in Gameweek 3.

Low-Picked Players for Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 3

Going with the herd can sometimes get boring. From Gameweek 1 to Gameweek 38, Wale, Jamie, and Euan will reveal their favorite FPL player, picked in fewer than 5 percent of Fantasy Premier League teams.

Wale: Pape Matar Sarr was excellent in Gameweek 2 against Man City. He was very aggressive, constantly pressing and forcing the opposition to make errors, pushing up in a 4-4-2 shape as he tagged with teammate Richarlison to help Tottenham secure the win.

The 22-year-old Senegalese international is yet to score his first goal this season, but has looked promising in the No. 10 role for Spurs. Additionally, he is a DefCon magnet, having made 19 defensive contributions thus far. At only 2.8% ownership, Sarr is my Fantasy Premier League differential for Gameweek 3.

Jamie: Without putting the proverbial boot into the Hammers, Ndoye is only on 2.2% of FPL teams. Forest's summer signing has filled the hole left by Anthony Elanga's departure, scoring and assisting in the opening two games.

Odoye has been operating as a right winger for Forest. Opposing right-wingers have got an assist against West Ham in their opening two games. West Ham's aforementioned inability to deal with crosses could mean it's three returns in three games for Ndoye.

Euan: I'm going to double dip here and tout a couple of Newcastle lads. With Anthony Gordon (suspension) out for three games, I'm looking at Jacob Murphy (1.5%) and Harvey Barnes (0.7%) to become better options in the Magpies' offense.

Newcastle travels to Elland Road and faces a Leeds side coming off a 5-0 battering at the hands of Arsenal. I don't think Newcastle will be quite as prolific as the Gunners, but I could see them putting two or three past the newly-promoted side.

It's our fourth season covering Fantasy Premier League, so reach out to @TheFPLManual, @Baseball_Jimbo, @F1FantasyEuan, or @df_solutions on X to let us know what you think about our coverage for the 2025-26 FPL season.
