Juan Brito Scheduled to Play in ACL This Week
Juan Brito (thumb) is tracking toward playing in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League this week as he works his way back from surgery on his right thumb back in late April to fix a torn ligament, according to MLB.com's Tim Stebbins. Brito, the team's No. 10 prospect per MLB Pipeline, was hitting .291/.406/.491 with an .897 OPS, two home runs, 10 RBI, 11 runs scored and four stolen bases in 16 games with Triple-A Columbus before landing on the seven-day minor-league injured list. The 23-year-old Dominican switch-hitter is nearing a return to minor-league action and could be a candidate to make his major-league debut later this season if he continues to hit the ball well upon his return. Brito never showed much power until last year, when he hit 21 bombs in 144 games. Fantasy-wise, Brito won't have a very high ceiling with fringy speed and questionable power at second base.
