ANALYSIS: On Friday afternoon, the Tampa Bay Rays opted to send their No. 7-ranked prospect, outfielder Chandler Simpson, to Triple-A Durham. This transaction opened a roster spot for outfielder Jake Mangum (groin), who was activated off the 10-day injured list.
Simpson was promoted to the major leagues on April 18 and looked quite comfortable during his first month of MLB action. Through 35 contests, the Georgia Tech product posted a .285/.318/.317 line with 19 stolen bases. His 19 swiped bags were the third-highest total in the American League.
Under the hood, Simpson generated an elite .305 xBA (93rd percentile) and showed a strong eye at the plate with a 10.5% K rate (96th percentile), which gave him a boost in points leagues.

Throughout his minor league career, Simpson flashed elite speed upside. Last season, the 24-year-old swiped an incredible 104 bags across 110 games. He spent most of his time with Double-A (78 games), where he held a .351/.401/.407 line with 73 stolen bases. He opened the 2025 season with Triple-A, where he posted a .301 AVG with eight stolen bases across 17 games.
While the Rays decided to move him back to the minor leagues, fantasy managers in deeper 12+ team category leagues should view him as a high-upside stash option. During his first stint in the majors, Simpson flashed elite speed upside that is worth stashing. If he continues to hit well with Triple-A, he could return to the majors before the end of June.
