ANALYSIS: The 26-year-old has hit a bit of a skid at Triple-A but continues to flash high strikeout upside. Over his last three starts, Tampa Bay Rays left-hander Ian Seymour has held a high 5.27 ERA with a 1.83 WHIP. However, across these 13 2/3 innings, the southpaw has tallied 22 punchouts with just seven walks.
Before this skid, Seymour was one of the top pitchers at the Triple-A level, holding a stellar 1.73 ERA with a 0.99 WHIP. In 36 1/3 frames, Seymour struck out 46 batters and allowed eight walks.
While No. 5 starter Zack Littell has begun to turn the corner after his slow start, he still has posted a modest 3.47 ERA over his last 36 innings. Seymour should be in the mix to make his MLB debut before the All-Star Break. When he gets the call, he will carry high strikeout upside. As a result, he is worth stashing in deeper 14+ team formats.
