Houston Texans wide reciever Stefon Diggs still hasn't been signed by a team in 2025's free agent period, and with his contract having expired, he's officially hit the open market. It's unfamiliar territory for the 10th-year pro, who has been a hot commodity for fantasy football managers and teams looking for a WR alike since his breakout season in his third year in the league.

There would probably be more teams interested in him had his 2024 season not been cut short by an ACL tear in Week 8. Up to that point, he'd caught 47 of his 64 targets for 496 yards and three touchdowns, having been an integral part of his team's offense, and was likely on pace for another 1,000-yard receiving season, but now, his future is highly uncertain.

There are plenty of teams that are desperate for WR help, though, and even if he isn't signed for a few more weeks, months, or not until some point after the 2025 season starts, there are a few landing spots that would be ideal for his production in fantasy football. There's a large dearth of talent at the WR position compared to what teams would like to have, which is also part of the reason their salaries have become so inflated in recent years. So let's break down the top landing spots for Diggs for fantasy football in 2025.

Los Angeles Chargers

The landing spot that would be of the biggest benefit to him right away is clearly the Los Angeles Chargers. Behind wide receiver Ladd McConkey, Los Angeles has virtually no one that any team would want to make their WR2. Despite a huge game against the Raiders and a few busted coverages leading to touchdowns boosting his scoring totals, WR Quentin Johnston has been a massive disappointment, especially considering his first-round draft capital.

Johnston plays much smaller than his size, is terrible at making contested catches, is a poor separator and route-runner, and has hands made of osmium and coated in several layers of Vaseline, cooking oil, and elbow grease. He hasn't been a reliable option at any point in the season. You can see some of his lowlights here. He just finished his second year in the league and still can't catch with his hands.

Diggs would immediately present an upgrade over Johnston, if his ACL has healed enough for him to get at least most of his old explosiveness back, though at 31 years old, that seems unlikely.

New England Patriots

Many might believe this isn't a good landing spot for him, but quarterback Drake Maye appears to have solidified himself as the next franchise quarterback, and he played admirably, considering how little talent he had to work with, in 2024. Maye would immediately make Diggs his No. 1 target, because the team's other receivers are likely not any better than WR3 on most other teams' rosters.

Maye showed the skillset of a franchise quarterback as a skilled passer. Here's every touchdown he threw in 2024, and it's quite the highlight reel, since his top targets were players like Austin Hooper, Hunter Henry, DeMario Douglas, Kayshon Boutte, and Kendrick Bourne, at times. It was the worst pass-catching room in all the NFL last year, and by a pretty solid margin.

Diggs would likely take plenty of slot snaps and run a variety of short-to-intermediate routes, as he did with the Texans, and rack up plenty of targets and receptions, and snag at least a few touchdowns as well, since he'd easily be their best red zone weapon at WR. He'd also likely improve as the year wears on, since his ACL will be in better condition the more time he has to recover.

Green Bay Packers

The Packers are another team severely devoid of wide receiver talent. They have Jayden Reed, a slot WR that's not a good blocker and doesn't play any snaps in 12 personnel, or formations that feature just two WRs. Christian Watson, another WR that doesn't play full time, also tore his ACL last season, and competes for snaps on the outside with wideout Dontayvion Wicks, better known as Droptayvion Bricks since he just cannot catch the ball.

Finally, they have WR Romeo Doubs, who is solid as a run-blocker, but doesn't bring any juice to the offense. On the weeks that he's fed end zone targets and able to get touchdowns, he can thrive in fantasy, but you never know when those are coming. Doubs is the only WR with a full-time role in terms of snap counts. Which would be great, if he were actually good.

Matt LaFleur's offense spreads the ball around as much as possible in large part because none of these wideouts can distinguish themselves from the others. Yet it's still a productive overall passing offense, due to LaFleur scheming his WRs and TEs open against many different coverages. He carries the team on his back without ever touching the field. Diggs could slot on and take reps from Reed, who isn't good against man coverage, in the slot, and from Wicks on the outside, and present an upgrade over both, depending on coverages. And he'd probably lead the team in targets.

Buffalo Bills

Ironically, the team he was a part of for four years would be a great landing spot for him yet again. While Buffalo already has WR Khalil Shakir, their "best" option last season for a stretch was a 31-year-old wideout Amari Cooper, who dealt with a number of injuries and wasn't his old self. QB Josh Allen is still a highly productive passer, and Diggs would be dealt a solid target share upon his return.

Diggs was highly productive for Buffalo, racking up 447 catches for 5,398 yards and 37 touchdowns in four seasons paired with Allen and co. He finished as a top-10 WR in fantasy football all four years there, and it was Diggs' diva nature that cause the team to get rid of him, at a time when he was still highly coveted by other teams. The injury changes things, and may lead Diggs to adjust his expectations, and/or realize Buffalo is a great landing spot for him.

Allen is a signal-caller who can easily support huge fantasy seasons from their lead wide receiver, and is one of the most productive passers in the NFL. He has a rocket launcher for an arm, and at a time where many teams have solidified their WR1 and WR2 positions ahead of the 2025 NFL season, Diggs would be well-served to return to his old stomping grounds. Buffalo has a serious issue with pass-catching talent. It doesn't look like they'll have a dominant WR1, but they could bolster their depth and add a solid chain-mover if they signed Diggs. And it would be great for his fantasy value.
