ANALYSIS: With six teams on bye this week, fantasy managers may feel compelled to start Rico Dowdle due to limited options. Dowdle was named the lead back in the Dallas Cowboys offense, but his performance has been inconsistent. Last week, the Cowboys struggled in the run game against the Houston Texans, highlighting some concerns surrounding the South Carolina alum.
What gives Dowdle some value, especially in PPR formats, is his pass-catching ability. He has seen five or more targets in three of the last four games and has recorded five receptions in two of those contests.

The fifth-year player has an opportunity to perform better this week against the Washington Commanders. While Dowdle's rushing potential may be limited, he could contribute through the air in this matchup. The Commanders also concede the 12th-most fantasy points per game to running backs, adding to Dowdle's potential for a good performance.
Despite these favorable factors, trusting Dowdle as a reliable fantasy option is still hard. Temper expectations and consider him as a low-end RB2 this week.
