MLB DFS: DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (6/24/24) - Today's Top Lineups

Cole Ragans - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

MLB DFS play for FanDuel, DraftKings (6/24/24). Use Doug's Daily Fantasy Baseball GPP Tournament Picks to win big on FanDuel and DraftKings tonight.

Happy Monday! Tonight’s slate is a nine-gamer that looks to be a lot of fun. We don’t have a Coors game to worry about, which takes away one huge decision point for us. The Yankees aren’t on this slate, either, which means we don’t have to fret fading Aaron Judge and Juan Soto at their wild prices. The Dodgers, however, are on this slate and they have a matchup against a crafty lefty in Garrett Crochet

Los Angeles has been great against lefties this year, but Crochet is far better than the average southpaw, leading the American League in strikeouts. It’s not wild to fade L.A. and stack up other teams in good spots like the Padres, Brewers, and Reds. There is no shortage of power tonight, and no pitcher is a bona fide lock, so you’ve got more flexibility with your builds than normal on this slate.

This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 6/24/2024 and the slate locking at 7:10 p.m. EDT on DraftKings and FanDuel. The lineup picks will range from some elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. Monitoring injury news and today's MLB starting lineups is also essential.

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Cole Ragans (KC/LHP) vs. Pittsburgh Pirates ($10.1K DK, $11K FD)

While I did say that no pitcher is a lock tonight, it’s going to be hard to pass on Cole Ragans. The Royals lefty has been outstanding this season, currently ranking second in the American League in strikeouts. His 11.8 strikeouts per nine innings at home is incredible, showing that he’s more than just a guy who benefits from a high number of innings pitched (just shy of six innings per start). Ragans has scored 19 or more DraftKings points in six straight home games, and in seven of nine home starts overall.

The Marlins are a great matchup for him, as they have struggled against left-handed pitchers this season. Their expected lineup has shown little power against lefties, posting a putrid .105 ISO this year, nor do they get on base with any regularity with their combined .243 wOBA.

The only negative in this matchup is that Miami only strikes out 20% of the time against left-handed pitchers, but given how strong Ragans has been at home, I’m not overly concerned. He doesn’t allow many walks (only one game all year with more than three walks), nor does he allow many home runs (0.72 home runs per nine innings), so big innings just don’t happen against Ragans. He’s a very strong cash option and should be considered in tournaments if you’re able to spend up on pitching.

Carson Spiers (CIN/RHP) vs. Pittsburgh Pirates ($6.4K DK, $7.8K FD)

The Pitching Model likes Carson Spiers quite a bit today, ranking him the second-best option on tonight’s slate. We have to take the model’s results with a grain of salt when a pitcher has as few innings as Spiers, but we shouldn’t ignore those results, either.

Spiers has a 24% strikeout rate, hasn’t allowed a home run this year, and has given up just two walks over his last five appearances (spanning over 21 innings). He started against the Pirates last week, and although he allowed four runs early, he completed six innings and struck out five batters.

Pittsburgh doesn’t generally do well against right-handed arms, so it may be hard for it to replicate that success against Spiers this time. It has a wOBA shy of .300 and its power numbers aren’t much better, with a .131 ISO against righties this year. They also strike out over 23% of the time against right-handed pitchers, which will play in Spiers’ favor. He’s a good, cheap option on DraftKings as your second pitcher in cash games or as a punt option on FanDuel in tournaments.

Also Consider: Freddy Peralta, Tanner Houck, Matt Waldron, Lance Lynn, Garrett Crochet, Spencer Schwellenbach

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Spencer Steer - 1B, CIN vs. Bailey Falter ($4.5K DK, $3.2K FD)

Bailey Falter hasn’t been nearly as horrible as expected this year, allowing more than three runs in only three starts this year. Today we can pick on him, though, as he runs into a bit of a double whammy against Spencer Steer. He’s hit Falter well in his career, going 5-for-8 with a home run. To further support that success, Steer leads the entire Reds team in ISO (.230) and slugging percentage (.486) against left-handed pitching.

Steer has struggled a bit recently, but he does have hits in back-to-back games and a matchup with a pitcher against whom he’s had success could be what he needs to get back on track. He’s not a strong cash-game option, but he should be a core member of any Reds stack that you use today.

Rafael Devers - 3B, BOS vs. Chris Bassitt ($5.7K DK, $3.7K FD)

Like Spencer Steer, Rafael Devers has struggled as of late. He’s got a paltry .231 batting average with just one home run over his last 10 games, but maybe tonight’s matchup against Chris Bassitt is what he needs to turn things around. Devers has hammered righties this year, posting a .310 ISO and a .595 SLG. Both of those power numbers lead the Red Sox, as do his 12 home runs and 27 runs batted in against right-handed pitching, making him a player that should be your first click in any Boston stack.

Willy Adames - SS, MIL vs. Michael Lorenzen ($5.1K DK, $3.5K FD)

Unlike our previous two entries, Willy Adames enters tonight’s game playing well. He has three home runs over his last 10 games, and over his last four games, he’s produced a .400 batting average. He will be facing Michael Lorenzen, who is an extreme reverse-split pitcher.

Lorenzen is a rare righty who dominates left-handed bats but gets creamed by right-handed batters. Opposing righties have a .556 slugging percentage against him to go along with a wOBA of over .400. Adames hits right-handed pitching very well, putting up a .208 ISO and a .473 slugging percentage on the season. He’s cash-game viable on FanDuel, but he’s a bit too pricey to be anything other than a stacking piece in tournaments on DraftKings.

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Jurickson Profar, OF - SD vs. Patrick Corbin ($4K DK, $3.1K FD)

Jurickson Profar has been one of the more pleasant surprises of the 2024 baseball season. He’s batting .316 with four home runs and has even chipped in with four stolen bases. He’s been great against left-handed pitching this year, leading the Padres in ISO (.214), batting average (.357), and slugging percentage (.571). He’s faced Patrick Corbin seven times in his career and has a hit in three of those at-bats. Given his strong play this year and his outstanding home matchup, it’s a bit of a surprise that he’s priced down as far as he is. He’s a great cash-game option on both DraftKings and FanDuel.

Alec Burleson, OF - STL vs. Spencer Schwellenbach ($3.9K DK, $3.1K FD)

Another great cash-game play today is Alec Burleson. He’s quietly been one of the best batters on the Cardinals this year against right-handed pitchers, posting a .204 ISO, a .311 batting average, and a team-leading .515 ISO. Spencer Schwellenbach has gotten hit hard by lefties this year, allowing a .500 slugging percentage over his four starts. Burleson also has been on fire lately, posting a .324 batting average with three home runs over his last 10 games. He’s put up double-digit DraftKings points in four of his last five games, yet his price remains more than reasonable.

Jarren Duran, OF - BOS vs. Chris Bassitt ($5.4K DK, $3.8K FD)

Burleson isn’t the only hot player that we can put in our cash-game lineups today. Jarren Duran has a .409 batting average with five stolen bases and seven extra-base hits over his last 10 games. For the season, Durran has a .251 ISO and .547 slugging percentage against righties; making him one of the best bats on the Red Sox.

His price has skyrocketed because of his strong play, but he’s paying off in a variety of ways and provides a nice floor with his consistent play. Chris Bassitt continues to be a pitcher we can pick on in the right spots. He has been better this year against lefties than he was last year, but he’s still not as good against left-handed bats as he is against righties. We can stack Boston lefties against him for tournaments, along with using Duran as a one-off in cash games.
