The inactivity that usually marks the fantasy football offseason in seasonal formats doesn’t have to be endured. Begin by reviewing the rosters of the available teams, which can be a fun exercise.

Of course, you will want to target a team that has a few quality core players to build around. The amount and position of draft picks in the upcoming rookie/free-agent draft will also be a factor. Keep in mind that the FFPC is a tight end premium format (1.5 points for every reception) when considering rostered players at that position.

Lower-priced teams will often take more time and years to build into a contender, but you might enjoy the longer-term project and reward of guiding a team from mediocrity to the top. A team that is stocked with more impact players already on the roster can quicken your journey to cashing out with a league championship. When navigating through the list of available teams, I noticed there were a healthy amount of options in various price ranges. Some of the squads being sold at a discount were indeed tempting. You can take over teams that are actually priced under $20. Some of the lower-priced teams were thin on 2024 draft picks, yet were well-stocked with enough 2025 draft choices and quality players to make it worth the longer wait to get back into the rookie/free-agent draft mix.

Some teams were apparently built to win in 2023 and traded away many draft picks to contend, and now were put on the FFPC market for sale. Others had a good amount of 2024 draft choices and are priced closer to the entry fee for buying a new startup dynasty team.

Ultimately, I wanted to strike a healthy balance between a competitive current roster and one that can be built into a true championship contender in the next year or two. I am also strongly considering purchasing one of the under $20 teams, too. I own two current FFPC dynasty teams, and one is lacking in early draft choices, but I have been managing that team for three years and do not plan on putting it up for sale. Dynasty ownership comes with high and low cycles of seasons, just like in pro football, and I will stick through it all as part of the authenticity of the journey.

Here is the roster I am considering for purchase. It is a $100 Superflex league team at a $100 price point. It includes all of its draft picks from the No. 4 spot for this season. Here are the key players included from every position.

QBs – Trevor Lawrence, Aaron Rodgers, Mac Jones, Jimmy Garoppolo

RBs – Derrick Henry, Tyjae Spears, J.K. Dobbins, Tank Bigsby, Ezekiel Elliott, Sean Tucker

WRs – Garrett Wilson, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, D.J. Moore, DeAndre Hopkins, Michael Wilson

TE – Mark Andrews, Gerald Everett

This team is neither a full-on rebuilding project nor a real 2024 contender. In a Superflex league, the QB structure is concerning outside of Lawrence. Rodgers may only have one or two good years left, if that much. I might look to deal him closer to the season when it becomes apparent that he is ready to go for the new campaign, to a team that is in win-now mode. I might use the first-round pick on a rookie QB, as this team will be in a good position to draft one, and better backups are also needed. A quality third QB is always necessary in a Superflex league.

The previous team owner smartly rostered both top Tennessee RBs for 2023, and I can potentially start both Henry and Spears while also hoping Dobbins will actually stay healthy. The depth here doesn’t jump off the screen at me, and the RB crew is respectable, but not outstanding. A healthy Andrews anchors a very important position in a TE premium format.

During the upcoming season, this team won’t likely push for a championship, yet it does have the core of a quality roster that just needs some key changes implemented over the next year or two. Rodgers and Moore are potential trade chips. (I won’t expect too much from Rodgers, but some draft capital might suffice.) I will be looking to bolster the outlook at QB as soon as possible while also having an eye on upgrading at RB.
