Top 10 Running Back Studs - Best Fantasy Football RB Performances Including Raheem Mostert, Travis Etienne, Derrick Henry, and more

Kyren Williams - Fantasy Football, Waiver Wire Pickups

The top ranked running back fantasy football scorers - are these RB trade targets, risers and sleepers from Week 6 of 2023? Kyle reacts to the best fantasy RB performances and how to best assess your squads for the rest of the 2023 fantasy season.

Week 6 only had one RB have a monster performance so far on the week (excluding MNF), but some of the usual suspects found themselves back in the mix of the top 10. There were only two teams on a bye in Week 6 (Packers and Steelers), but the Miami Dolphins backfield continues its torrid pace against NFL defenses as wily veteran Raheem Mostert delivered another impressive performance. Austin Ekeler returns off of injury tomorrow on MNF against the Dallas Cowboys and fantasy owners everywhere can only hope he is back to his old self after missing the last four games with injury.

Christian McCaffrey of the 49ers exited during Week 6's loss to the Cleveland Browns with an oblique injury and his status going forward needs to be monitored as the 49ers aren't on a bye until Week 9. CMC has been the overall RB1 and has had all the looks of a league-winner. Going forward in Week 7, the Panthers, Bengals, Cowboys, Jets, Titans, and Texans will be on a bye. Why did we have just two teams on a bye in Week 6, but six teams on a bye coming up in Week 7? Make it make sense, NFL.

Let's take a look and see who the top runners were. Here are the Week 6 Top 10 RBs based on half-PPR fantasy scores (excluding Monday Night Football). For those of you who are in need of some real-time stats, bookmark our live fantasy scoreboard to your browser. Top 10 Running Backs Of The Week

Here are the top 10 running backs from Week 6 of the 2023 NFL season in half-PPR scoring:

Rank Player Team Points
1 Raheem Mostert MIA 32.7
2 Travis Etienne JAC 21.8
3 Kyren Williams LAR 21.8
4 Derrick Henry TEN 18.3
5 Breece Hall NYJ 17.8
6 Kenneth Walker SEA 16.4
7 Rhamondre Stevenson NE 15.5
8 Chuba Hubbard CAR 15.5
9 Zack Moss IND 14.9
10 Kareem Hunt CLE 14.6

1. Raheem Mostert, Miami Dolphins

Are we living in a fantasy or a reality? Mike McDaniel's Miami offense has been absolutely unstoppable through the first six weeks of the season and Mostert (despite being 31 years old) has shown no signs at all of slowing down. The Dolphins pretty much set all offensive records through the first five weeks of the NFL season and picked up right where they left off today, slicing and dicing the Panthers' defense en route to a 42-21 victory to move to 5-1 on the season.

On Sunday, Mostert carried the rock 17 times for 115 yards and two TDs on top of seeing three targets to finish with three receptions for 17 yards and another TD. With rookie De'Von Achane sidelined for the next month on IR and fellow RB Jeff Wilson Jr. working his way back from injury, it is absolutely wheels up for Mostert for the time being. He is in your lineup every week regardless of the opponent and should be viewed as an RB1 until Achane is back. This Miami offense is simply just clicking on all cylinders right now.

2. Travis Etienne, Jacksonville Jaguars

Remember when many in the fantasy football community didn't want to draft Etienne in 2023 because of rookie RB Tank Bigsby? Pepperidge Farm remembers? Seriously though. While we might all be eating it with Jahmyr Gibbs right now, Etienne is living proof that it's important for fantasy to always bet on talent more than situation. If you drafted a team based on the situation, you'd be stuck with a team of all Alexander Mattisons right now.

Etienne had 18 carries for 55 yards and two TDs in Week 6 and caught all three of his targets for 28 yards. The Jags dominated the Colts and have taken control of the AFC South at 4-2. This offense doesn't even feel like it's clicking on all cylinders yet. QB Trevor Lawrence was knocked out of the game with a lower-body injury, but hopefully, it was nothing serious. Etienne should be viewed as a mid-RB1 for the rest of the way. After finishing as the RB1 in Week 5, he followed it up with another great performance today. Etienne is for real.

3. Kyren Williams, Los Angeles Rams

It's hard to hate on Williams. The dude is all heart. After falling into Round 5 of the 2022 NFL Draft due to a poor showing at the NFL Combine, Kyren has battled his way to win the Rams starting RB job. Sean McVay's offense has produced solid RB performances for fantasy in years past, and so far he is getting the lion's share of all the carries and has been an absolute force in 2023.

Kyren carried the ball 20 times for 158 yards and one TD. This is the fourth time in six games he has finished as an RB7 or better. Williams should be viewed as a TD-dependent, low-end RB1 the rest of the way. Despite the 3-3 start, the Rams have the making of a dangerous team that could go on a run in the second half of the season.

4. Derrick Henry, Tennessee Titans

The King has had a bit of a slow start to the 2023 season. The Titans' offense has been sputtering and they currently sit at 2-4 on the year heading into their Week 7 bye, and rookie RB Tyjae Spears has been plenty involved in the offense. On a Sunday morning game in London, Henry had 12 carries for 97 yards and one TD on top of catching both of his targets for 16 yards.

QB Ryan Tannehill was injured in the contest and with the bye week coming up, could a QB change loom on the horizon? A trade to a contender might be the best thing for Henry's fantasy value, the question is just to whom? He should be viewed as a high-end RB2 with an upside from here on out. Now 29 years of age, Father Time might finally be coming for Henry.

5. Breece Hall, New York Jets

It's been an up-and-down rollercoaster ride for the Jets so far this season. After losing QB Aaron Rodgers for the season in Week 1, the Jets came back to beat the Bills on MNF and then lost their next three games. Now they've ripped off two straight to get to 3-3 on the year. Zach Wilson hasn't been great, but it's easy to see why Hall is one of the most talented RBs in the league all situations being equal.

Hall had 12 carries for 39 yards and one TD in Week 6 and had five receptions for 54 yards. Critics will say that Hall should have taken a knee instead of going into the end zone late in the 4th quarter but have you seen this Jets offense? Scoring points for them has been like pulling teeth, you can't blame Hall for wanting to get in the end zone there.

6. Kenneth Walker, Seattle Seahawks

Another player who has been an absolute touchdown machine this season despite this organization drafting another RB in Round 2 of the 2023 NFL Draft, KWIII looks like the clear-cut RB1 in Seattle right now. On Sunday, Walker had 19 rushes for 62 yards and one TD on top of catching all three of his targets for 27 yards.

Walker has scored six rushing TDs in his last four games and it's hard not to be excited with his fantasy performance so far on the year. There is still a chance that Walker will end up seeing some more carries, but nonetheless, it's hard not to be optimistic for the RB this season. He is clearly the most talented back in the Seattle offense right now and this offense has seemed to pick up where it left off in 2022.

7. Rhamondre Stevenson, New England Patriots

We needed this one, didn't we? Hopefully, you had Stevenson in your lineup this week, but it was understandable to not have him there after having such a slow start to the season. This was Rhamondre's first RB1 finish on the year and the Patriots offense has looked anything but the part after they have stumbled to a 1-5 start.

Stevenson had 10 carries for 46 yards and one TD on top of seeing six targets to finish with five receptions for 24 yards. If you are trying to sell high on him after this game, no one would blame you. The Pats offense has been a dumpster fire so far in 2023 and things don't appear to be looking any better. Be worried.

8. Chuba Hubbard, Carolina Panthers

After starting RB Miles Sanders was sidelined for Week 6, Hubbard took advantage of the situation and continued to shine. Hubbard had 19 rushes for 88 yards and one TD and had one reception for two yards. The Panthers ended up losing to the Dolphins by a score of 42-21, but it's pretty clear that there's no difference between Sanders and Hubbard in terms of talent. Whether or not Hubbard ends up carving out a bigger role for himself in the offense is another story, but if Sanders were to miss Week 8, then it would be hard to not want to start him again.

9. Zack Moss, Indianapolis Colts

Moss is going to be a problem for Jonathan Taylor's fantasy owners, isn't he? After missing Week 1, Moss has finished as an RB10 or better in four out of the last five weeks! It was hard to gauge just how valuable Moss was as a runner after he put up some of his bigger games with rookie QB Anthony Richardson under center.

Veteran QB Gardner Minshew took over for the injured A-Rich and the Colts offense mostly struggled until the end. Moss put up an ugly seven carries for 21 yards and one TD on top of seeing seven targets to finish with six receptions for 38 yards. This wasn't a week where we saw a lot of great RB finishes across the board and it is going to be hard to start Moss for fantasy going forward.

10. Kareem Hunt, Cleveland Browns

After signing with the Browns in Week 3 following the brutal injury to starting RB Nick Chubb, Hunt hadn't done much in his first two games and was largely outperformed by fellow RB Jerome Ford. On Sunday, Hunt had 12 carries for 47 yards and one TD on top of finishing with three receptions for 24 yards. He hasn't looked like the spry Hunt of old when he was one of the league's better running backs, but now at age 28, it feels like age is catching up to him. QB Deshaun Watson needs to return and start playing better for this offense to be more viable for fantasy
