Brooklyn Nets - NBA Betting Analysis

The Nets enter today's game having lost five straight, including a 116-114 loss to the Cavaliers. Mikal Bridges led the team in scoring with 32 points on 57.9% shooting. Despite the straight up loss, Brooklyn covered the spread as they were 4.0 point underdogs going into the game.

Now, the Nets' overall record sits at 39-34, placing them 7th in the Eastern Conference. The team's current record at home is 19-16 and 20-18 on the road. This season, Brooklyn's ATS record sits at 38-34.

For the season, the Nets are the 20th ranked scoring unit in the NBA at 113.3 points per game. But looking at their previous five games, the team is danger of falling in the rankings as they have averaged just 105 points per contest. Brooklyn's three-point shooting numbers are among the best in the NBA, as the team ranks 4th in the NBA, having hit 38.1% of their looks from deep. But given that they are just 20th in possessions per game, their overall scoring numbers are closer to the league average. Currently, the Nets are 4th in overall field goal percentage.

Brooklyn's defense is currently ranked 14th in the league at 112.1 points allowed per game. Brooklyn is hovering around the league average despite forcing turnovers at a below average rate at 13.1 per game. Also, the unit has struggled to clean up the defensive glass, ranking 22nd in defensive rebounds per game. So far, opponents have hit 45.2% of their field goal attempts and 34.5% of their looks from deep.

Miami Heat - NBA Betting Analysis

After taking down the Knicks by a score of 127-120, the Heat are riding a two game win streak. Jimmy Butler led the way in scoring with 35 points. Not only did Miami win the game, but they also covered the spread as 2.5-point favorites.

With the win, the team has moved to 40-34, placing them 6th in the Eastern Conference. So far this season, they have gone 25-13 at home and 15-21 on the road. Even though the Heat have rattled off 2 straight wins against the spread, their overall ATS record is 28-44.

Despite being ranked 30th in the NBA with an average of 109.3 points per game, the Heat have improved their performance lately. In their last five games, they have scored an average of 119 points per contest. Some key reasons behind the Heat's offensive struggles is their poor shooting numbers from outside. Currently, they rank 10th in attempts and 27th in percentage at 34.1%. The team's slow pace of play is also impacting their scoring numbers, as they are 96.5 in possessions per game. On average, Miami gets to the line 23.5 times per game (17th) and has hit 83.2% of these attempts.

On the defensive end of the floor, the Heat have allowed opponents to shoot 45.2% from the field (4th) and are giving up 112.1 points per game which is 14th in the NBA. Although Miami is not strong on the defensive glass, ranking 22nd in defensive rebounds per game, they do a good job forcing turnovers. So far, they have turned teams over an average of 12.8 times per game (9th).

Today's NBA Betting Pick - Nets vs. Heat

Today's matchup will be the 2nd game of the season between the Nets and Heat. So far, the Nets have the leg up in the series 2-0. The most recent game between the teams resulted in both a straight-up win for the Nets (102-101). However, the Heat were able to cover as 2.5 point underdogs. Their combined 203 points fell below the over/under line of 223.0.

In the Nets' previous five games as the favorite, they have a straight up record of 1-4 while going 2-3 against the spread. Across their last three road games, they are 2-1 ATS and 2-1 straight up. Their previous ten games have an over/under mark of 4-6 with an average of 230 points per contest.

Across Miami's last five games at home, they have an ATS mark of 2-3 while going 2-3 straight-up. As the favorite, the Heat are 2-1 straight up on an average scoring differential of -10 points per game. This has led to an ATS mark of 2-1. Their previous ten games have ended in an average of 229 points per game and an over/under mark of 6-4.

Recommended ATS Betting Pick: BKN +5.5

Recommended OU Betting Pick: Under 222.0
