Should I Drop AJ Dillon? Fantasy Football Outlook

AJ Dillon - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

Should I drop AJ Dillon for fantasy football Week 12? Is AJ Dillon a safe player to cut? Read the fantasy football waivers outlook.

AJ Dillon fantasy owners rejoiced after a 20.1-point Week 1 performance. Dillon out-touched backfield companion Aaron Jones 15-8 and found the end zone en route to finishing as the ninth-best running back in the first week.

The third-year running back has failed to find the end zone or eclipse 10 points in any game since the season opener. Though ineffective, AJ Dillon remains rostered in more than 60% of fantasy leagues.

If you're a Dillon owner yourself, you've likely had enough. What has AJ Dillon done this season? Should I drop AJ Dillon in fantasy?

What Has AJ Dillon Done This Season?

Green Bay's 250-pound battery ram opened the 2022 season with four consecutive games with a snap share of 50% or higher. The effectiveness of Aaron Jones has limited Dillon's relevance in the Packer offense. Dillon has played in under 50% of the offensive snaps in six of the last seven games.

The Boston College product averaged 16.5 touches per game to Aaron Jones' 15 during the opening four weeks. Since Week 5, Jones has nearly doubled Dillon's opportunities, averaging 17.6 touches to Dillon's 9.7.

The profound change in usage has had a significant impact on the fantasy outlook of Green Bay's running backs. Dillon is averaging an underwhelming 5.4 full-PPR points per game since Week 5, compared to Jones' healthy 15.7 average. Dillon has been one of the most inefficient players in fantasy this year, averaging 0.56 points per opportunity, 66th-best among running backs.

Should I Drop AJ Dillon in Fantasy Football?

A Week 14 bye coming over the horizon provides another incentive to cut ties with Dillon immediately. Quadzilla is currently an unplayable fantasy option that is occupying space on your bench.

If you still roster Dillon, you might as well stick it out with him. The odds are he is better than any running back on the waivers. Latavius Murray, Isiah Pacheco, and Cam Akers are some running backs that I prefer over Dillon rest-of-season. Unless there is a running back with a higher upside than Green Bay's goal-line guy, keep him stashed.

Generally speaking, eat your frustration and keep AJ Dillon on your roster. Aaron Jones has a thorough injury history. Dillon is a Jones injury away from being considered a top-12 running back in fantasy football.
