Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 4:
Michael Penix Jr., Atlanta Falcons
Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. (knee) made his first start in over 10 months in his team's Thursday night win over the Packers, and while he had obvious rust to work through early, he ended the night with 256 yards and a touchdown.
With the strange scheduling quirk of going from Thursday to Monday, the Falcons now have four extra days of rest and preparation ahead of a divisional clash with the Saints. After finishing as the fantasy QB21 in his return to action, Penix is a viable streaming option in a Week 4 matchup with one of the week's highest projected scores, and he is readily available on most waiver wires after going largely undrafted in single-quarterback leagues.
Jameis Winston, New York Giants
New York Giants head coach John Harbaugh reaffirmed that veteran Jameis Winston is the team's starting quarterback, according to Evan Barnes of Newsday Sports. Winston did everything a QB needed to win the Week 3 game against the visiting Tennessee Titans, "but that doesn't mean that's where we stand," Harbaugh said. The Giants sent a fifth-rounder in next year's draft to the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for former first-round QB J.J. McCarthy on Monday, with Jaxson Dart (knee) done for the rest of the season.
Winston will be New York's starting signal-caller going into a Week 4 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals, but once McCarthy gets up to speed with the offense, there is a possibility that the Giants make a change at the position, depending on how Winston is playing.
The 32-year-old Winston went 14-for-22 for 118 yards passing, zero touchdowns, and zero picks in the 12-7 win over the Titans on a rain-soaked field in New York on Sunday in an ugly performance. He also went 11-for-27 for 111 yards, no TDs, and one pick in relief of Dart in the Week 2 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night. Winston is a turnover-prone gunslinger who could help the team to some wins, but if he struggles at all, the Giants probably won't hesitate to give the younger McCarthy a chance.
Daniel Jones, Indianapolis Colts
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Daniel Jones has emerged as a viable streaming option in fantasy football for Week 4 against the Washington Commanders. Jones is coming off an ugly three-turnover performance, but he still managed to tally a respectable 235 passing yards in the process. Now, he gets a relatively soft matchup in the form of the Commanders, who just surrendered a whopping 379 passing yards and four touchdowns to Sam Darnold.
While Washington's offense is playing better than expected without Jayden Daniels (elbow), its defense continues to have plenty of question marks. The Commanders have played in numerous shootouts this year, and we could see Week 4 following the same pattern. The Colts are far from a lock to win, but Jones has a very good chance to put together his best fantasy performance of the season against Washington. He's worth streaming as a mid-range QB2 with additional upside.
Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson (back) was listed as a limited participant in Wednesday's practice due to a back injury, according to Sam Cohn of The Baltimore Sun. Head coach Jesse Minter has downplayed Jackson's back injury. It is worth watching, but all signs point to Jackson being fine to suit up this Sunday at home against the visiting Tennessee Titans in a great matchup. Fantasy managers will be hoping that the 29-year-old's back injury does not limit his elite scrambling and rushing ability.
The former two-time MVP has been the overall QB7 in fantasy through three games, throwing for 745 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception, and adding a league-high 124 rushing yards and one rushing score for the Ravens. As long as he does not have a setback with his minor back injury on Thursday or Friday, fantasy managers should plan on rolling with Jackson in their starting lineups in Week 4 against Tennessee.
Case Keenum, Chicago Bears
Chicago Bears quarterback Case Keenum showed he can still be a productive option for the Bears by stepping in on Monday and leading the team to a 27-7 win over the Eagles. Keenum threw for 247 passing yards and a pair of touchdowns, and he ran for a third score on four carries for six yards.
The 38-year-old was a solid fantasy option in this game, but it isn't clear if he'll get another start now that Tyson Bagent will have a full week of preparation after clearing the NFL Concussion Protocol. Whoever starts will be in a tough matchup against Aaron Glenn's New York Jets defense. Keenum would be a low-end QB2 if he gets another start, so watch the situation closely to see what quarterback coach Ben Johnson turns to in Week 4.
