Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 2:
Puka Nacua, Los Angeles Rams
Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua (groin) is questionable for Monday night's game against the Giants, according to Nate Atkins. Nacua will miss practice for a second straight day Saturday after sitting out Friday. Atkins reports that the groin injury is separate from the psoas issue Nacua dealt with during training camp. He caught five of nine targets for 74 yards in the season-opening loss to San Francisco.
The Rams also have a concern behind him, with Jordan Whittington doubtful because of a quad injury. Whittington is listed directly behind Nacua on the depth chart. Davante Adams would be the clear top receiver available if Nacua can't play.
Braelon Allen, New York Jets
New York Jets running back Braelon Allen was not buried behind Breece Hall in Week 1. He carried the ball 10 times for 40 yards and had a touchdown wiped out by a holding penalty, so the Jets clearly plan to use him. Hall still handled 22 carries and two targets, which tells us just as much. This is Hall's backfield, with Allen working behind him rather than alongside him.
Green Bay allowed rushing touchdowns to both Jordan Mason and Aaron Jones Sr. last week, so the matchup itself is fine. Allen checks in at RB52 in RotoBaller's Week 2 rankings. There is enough work here to keep him relevant in deeper formats, but it is hard to start him while Hall is getting this much of the offense.
Xavier Hutchinson, Houston Texans
Houston Texans wide receiver Xavier Hutchinson played the second-most snaps of all his team's WRs in Week 1, and with Nico Collins (hamstring) out in Week 2, Hutchinson will have to carry more of the workload against Cincinnati. Hutchinson also had the second-most targets of any WR and caught three of his six opportunities for 32 yards.
While Jaylin Noel and Kayshon Boutte will also have to be more involved, Hutchinson could end up leading this receiver group in a tough matchup against the Bengals, who looked sharp in Week 1 against the Bucs. Hutchinson is the No. 69 WR in RotoBaller's Week 2 rankings, so he remains a very high-risk start despite the potential extra work. If you need a flier for DFS or in deep leagues, his potential extra work puts him on the radar, even though he remains high-risk.
Ashton Jeanty, Las Vegas Raiders
Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty is set for another huge week as the Silver and Black travel to Los Angeles to face the Chargers. The former Heisman Trophy finalist has been nursing an ankle injury but hasn't missed any practice or game time. The ailment clearly hasn't hindered his game, as Jeanty logged 23 carries for 102 rushing yards and added six receptions for 45 yards and two receiving touchdowns against the Miami Dolphins in Week 1.
The Raiders haven't defeated the Chargers since 2023 and haven't won at SoFi Stadium since 2020, and Jeanty's well-rounded play will have to be top-notch against an LA rush defense that allowed just 116 yards in Week 1. The second-year back is an RB1 across fantasy formats, even against a tough opponent like LA, as the Raiders aim to start the season 2-0.
Jerry Jeudy, Cleveland Browns
Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jerry Jeudy was not heavily involved in Game 1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He caught two passes for 26 yards on four targets and was outplayed by fellow wide receivers Denzel Boston and KC Concepcion. That could be the case again in Week 2 when the Browns visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Look for Jeudy to be third in line in the wide receiver pecking order behind Boston and Concepcion.
He could get a few targets, but will have to make the most of those targets in order to make an impact at the Buccaneers. The Bucs defense is very solid and did a good job of keeping Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and the Bengals receivers in check in Week 1.
The Bucs have a young but talented secondary that should do a good job of defending Jeudy and limiting his output in Week 2. If you need to start a Browns receiver, it might be the smart move to look towards Boston or Concepcion rather than Jeudy this week.
