Pittsburgh Pirates pitching prospect Bubba Chandler has been knocking on the MLB door throughout the entire 2025 regular season. Despite his proven production at Triple-A, the Pirates have yet to give him the call.

However, with the season coming to a close, the Pirates may want to give their top prospect a cup of coffee in the big leagues to provide him an excellent opportunity to take the next step in 2026.

Bubba Chandler Prospect Update for Fantasy Baseball

After showing weak command in his previous start on July 30, serving up four walks to the Iowa Cubs, the budding ace bounced back in a big way in his most recent outing on August 5. Facing Triple-A Omaha, Chandler served up just one walk and three runs across 4 2/3 innings. In this outing, he struck out an impressive seven batters but allowed eight hits.

While his box score looked impressive, seeing him show some consistency in cleaning up his command is a positive sign.

Leading up to this outing, Chandler held a modest 32:16 K:BB with a 3.90 ERA over his last 30 innings of work. Fantasy managers should continue to keep a close eye on his production, as the Pirates may have wanted to see him clean up his command before giving him the call.

Bubba Chandler Outlook for Fantasy Baseball

Overall, the top pitching prospect in baseball according to MLB.com has had an up-and-down season at Triple-A Indianapolis. While he has flashed immense upside at times, his low points have likely halted his eventual promotion. He opened the season, posting a stellar 2.03 ERA with a 1.07 WHIP during his first 48 2/3 innings of work.

However, in June, Chandler would see all of his progress get wiped away as he allowed 12 runs in just 12 2/3 innings.

With Bailey Falter now in Kansas City, Fantasy managers should continue to view Chandler as a top stash option. Despite his struggles at times, he still possesses elite upside that is worth rostering in all 12-team formats.
