Colorado Avalanche goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood is expected to make his first appearance of the 2025-26 campaign in Saturday's meeting with the San Jose Sharks. After missing time because of a lower-body injury, Blackwood returned to the lineup this week, serving as a backup to Scott Wedgewood in a pair of games. Blackwood started last season with the Sharks and won both games against them after he was traded to the Avalanche. Overall, he produced a 22-12-3 record with his new squad, allowing 2.33 goals with a .913 save percentage and three shutouts. San Jose has gone 3-6-2 this season but averages 3.36 goals per game, so this may not be a walk in the park for Blackwood on Saturday.--Taavi Pailk
