Arch Manning in Concussion Protocol, Misses Practice Monday
Texas quarterback Arch Manning (head) is in concussion protocol and did not practice on Monday, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel. The redshirt sophomore exited Saturday's win over Mississippi State in overtime, forcing backup Matthew Caldwell into action. Caldwell completed his only pass attempt of the game for a 10-yard touchdown, which ultimately proved to be the game-winning score. If Manning can't play this week against No. 9 Vanderbilt, Caldwell will be in line to start. Coming into this season with sky-high expectations, Manning has completed just under 61% of his passes for 1,795 yards, 15 touchdowns, and six interceptions. He tallied over 350 total yards and four touchdowns against the Bulldogs before exiting. Caldwell is a fifth-year senior who transferred to Austin following one season at Troy in 2024.
