Week 9 Waiver Wire Pickups - Bam Knight, Tyjae Spears, Tyler Allgeier Fantasy Football Outlooks

Tyjae Spears - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

Week 9 fantasy football waiver wire pickups for Bam Knight, Tyjae Spears, Tyler Allgeier in 2025. Read their waiver wire outlooks for fantasy football.

Week 8 of the 2025 NFL season brought a historic number of blowouts. Only one game so far has been decided by one score, and it was between the Jets and Bengals. That benefited some of the league's workhorses, with Jonathan Taylor, James Cook, Saquon Barkley, and Breece Hall all exceeding 30 PPR points this week, the second most in any week this season.

In this article, we'll look at three lesser-known commodities at running back and assess their value on the waiver wire: Bam Knight, Tyjae Spears, and Tyler Allgeier.

So, should you pick up Knight, Spears, or Allgeier in your fantasy football leagues for Week 9 of 2025? Let's dive in.

Bam Knight Week 9 Waiver Wire Pickups

Rostered: 28% of Leagues

Baller Move: Add in 12-team leagues

Knight earned a season high 17 touches in Week 6 against the Packers, totaling 57 yards on 14 carries and adding seven yards on three catches (four targets). Comparatively, backfield mate Michael Carter saw his opportunities go down significantly, with just nine in Week 6. Carter handled the biggest workload of any Arizona RB with 23 touches in Week 5 against the Titans, the first week without James Conner (foot) and Trey Benson (knee).

But Carter's usage has cratered since then as he's been super inefficient in his opportunities. His 2.8 yards per carry is the lowest out of 50 running backs with at least 35 carries. And now, the Cardinals just released Carter, perhaps signaling Benson is getting close. But Knight will be the lead back in the meantime.

Knight hasn't been an efficiency darling by any means, but he's gotten the yards that are blocked for him and has kept the offense on schedule. His 58.6% rushing success rate ranks ninth best among running backs.

It looks like Knight has the runway to be the lead back until Benson returns, although there haven't been any updates on that yet. Knight draws a fantastic matchup in Week 9 against the Dallas Cowboys, who are still last by a mile in PFF's team rushing grades (35.9). The 24-year-old is a solid add in 12-team leagues for a plug-and-play RB2 in Week 9, and there's potential he handles the bulk of the touches for Arizona in the weeks after as well.

Tyjae Spears Week 9 Waiver Wire Pickups

Rostered: 46% of Leagues

Baller Move: Add in All PPR Leagues

Spears outsnapped veteran Tony Pollard in Week 8 for the second time in the past three weeks. The 24-year-old was eased back into action in his first game returning from injured reserve in Week 5, playing just 26.2% of the snaps. But since he's gotten back up to speed, he's operated as the primary pass-down back for a Titans team that has played from behind in every game this season.

The third-year back out of Tulane has run 53 routes to Pollard's 41 and handled 19 carries to Pollard's 27 since Week 6. And there is a real possibility that Pollard will be dealt at the trade deadline on November 4th. Tennessee has already made two trades, and more veterans will likely be on the move between now and then.

There's a lot to like about Spears' rest of season outlook. He's averaging 5.5 yards per carry on 23 carries for the season and has the explosiveness to break off long runs and the shiftiness to evade tacklers and pick up necessary yardage. His involvement in the receiving game is among the most appealing parts of his profile, catching at least three balls in his last three games, and that could tick up even more in the future. Spears is a must-add in PPR formats wherever he is available.

Tyler Allgeier Week 9 Waiver Wire Pickups

Rostered: 47% of Leagues

Baller Move: Add In 12-team leagues

Allgeier is one of the strongest handcuffs to own in fantasy behind superstar Bijan Robinson. If Robinson were to miss any time, Allgeier would step into a massive workload. Atlanta's only other running back on the roster is undrafted rookie Nathan Carter, who has taken a grand total of 10 snaps on offense this season.

Week 8 projected as a huge game for the Atlanta ground attack against a bad Miami defense, but that was most certainly not how it played out. Atlanta averaged only 2.6 yards per carry as a team, with Allgeier handling four carries for four yards, which is the lowest in a game for his career where he recorded at least one carry. But he did still find the end zone and caught his two receptions for 10 yards.

In addition, Allgeier has had some standalone value this season, scoring double-digit PPR points in three of seven games. A lot of that value comes from when the Falcons have played from ahead. More than half of his 61 carries on the season have come in the fourth quarter (31).

That's 10 carries more than Robinson, and Allgeier has scored both of the Falcons' fourth-quarter rushing touchdowns this season. The 25-year-old is still one of the best contingency plays in fantasy and should be rostered in the vast majority of leagues. If he's available in 12-team leagues, he's worth a bench spot.
