Caleb Williams, Bears - Fantasy Football Outlook

Caleb Williams was selected first overall by the Chicago Bears in the 2024 NFL Draft to lead the offense for years to come following the trade of Justin Fields to Pittsburgh. The Bears' new franchise QB steps into an upgraded offense, with Keenan Allen and D'Andre Swift joining DJ Moore and Cole Kmet. Chicago also spent the ninth overall pick on Rome Odunze.

Williams blossomed after following Lincoln Riley to USC as a sophomore, throwing for over 4,500 yards with 42 touchdowns. Lesser numbers as a junior were still bumped by highlight-reel plays that flashed his upside. The arm talent and ability to create from broken plays are real, with plus mobility able to extend the play.

His legs led to 27 total rushing TDs in three years of college ball. While the long-term upside is clear, rookies will have volatility baked into their fantasy projection. Therefore, it's difficult to place him into the top-12 QB list for redraft leagues given 2024's player pool.

He'll open as a bench stash/streamer in most 12-teamers that start one QB, while those in Dynasty/2QB/Superflex leagues will be more aggressive.

Najee Harris, Steelers - Fantasy Football Outlook

Najee Harris got off to a slow start in the 2023 campaign but finished strong and managed to rush for 1,000 yards for a third consecutive season. Splitting touches with Jaylen Warren was not ideal for his fantasy value, especially in a Pittsburgh Steelers offense that scored the fifth-fewest points in the league. The Steelers will look completely different in 2024, however.

New offensive coordinator Arthur Smith failed as a head coach in Atlanta, but the Falcons boasted a successful rushing attack over the past two seasons, as did the Tennessee Titans with Smith as their OC in 2019 and 2020. Russell Wilson and Justin Fields highlight Pittsburgh's new additions at quarterback, with Wilson expected to be the Week 1 starter. The former Super Bowl champion, while not the player he once was, should be expected to lead Harris and the Steelers to more scoring opportunities than Kenny Pickett last year.

Additionally, Pittsburgh spent three of its first five selections in April's NFL Draft on offensive linemen, further emphasizing its desire to establish the run. With the Steelers declining Harris' fifth-year option, the 26-year-old will be playing for a contract this season in what projects to be an improved offense. Harris currently represents a solid value as an RB2 in the seventh round of fantasy drafts.

Derrick Henry, Ravens - Fantasy Football Outlook

Derrick Henry has to fall off a cliff soon right? Wrong. Sure, he is 30 years old, 86 in running back years, and has 2,185 career touches, but the fantasy community has been preaching his downfall since 2020 and all he has done is score at least 10 touchdowns and finish as a top-five running back in points per game in each season until last year.

Despite 2023 being his worst fantasy season since 2018 (not including his 8-game season in 2021), Henry still had 12 touchdowns and finished as the RB10 in PPR, and he did it with a mediocre offensive line, Ryan Tannehill and rookie Will Levis under center, and a little help from a rusty DeAndre Hopkins who missed time due to a suspension.

He was the entire focal point of the offense and the only player defenses prepared to stop, and he still finished with 16 breakaway runs (2nd), 59 evaded tackles (9th), and 933 yards created beyond what the line blocked for (10th). King Henry now finds himself in the best situation of his career in Baltimore, running in a Lamar Jackson offense with excellent offensive weapons in Zay Flowers and Mark Andrews to keep defenses honest.

Last year, Gus Edwards led the Ravens with 13 rushing touchdowns on 198 carries, but he left in free agency to join the Los Angeles Chargers and Henry will be far more efficient at the goal line. He is a tremendous value in the third round of drafts right now with an ADP of 31 overall as the 12th running back off the board.

Leading the league in rushing touchdowns is well within his range of outcomes, and after four straight years of proving doubters wrong, only a fool would doubt him in the best situation he has ever been in. Sure, he doesn't catch many passes, but he never has, and it has never mattered. Draft him with confidence and then figure out how you want to spend your winnings.
