Wilson Ramos Signs With Tigers
4 years agoThe Detroit Tigers signed free-agent catcher Wilson Ramos to a one-year, $2 million deal on Tuesday evening. Ramos became a free agent when the Mets declined his $10 million option for the 2021 season. The 33-year-old veteran backstop hit .239/.297/.387 with five home runs and 15 RBI in 142 at-bats during the shortened 2020 season. He is a two-time All-Star from 2016 and 2018 and hit .288/.351/.416 with 14 long balls and 73 RBI in 141 games for New York in his last full season in 2019. Ramos has been somewhat of a liability behind the plate defensively, but he'll give Detroit an offensive boost at the position alongside Grayson Greiner and Jake Rogers. Ramos will only be relevant in two-catcher and AL-only leagues.
