Willie Snead 2019 Outlook: No Need For Snead
6 years agoMuch like the rest of the offense in Baltimore, 2018 was a lost season for Willie Snead after the ascension of Lamar Jackson to starter at quarterback. Following a year in which he missed four games due to suspension in 2017 in New Orleans, Snead was hopeful of a new start in a new city. After playing in all 16 games in 2018 but only compiling 62 receptions for 651 yards and one touchdown he may be rethinking it.
Marquise Brown is now in the fold and the Ravens still want to be a run first team. Bringing in Mark Ingram to pair with Gus Edwards and Kenneth Dixon as well as the draft selection of Justice Hill will allow the Ravens to be a solid top-five run team once again in 2018. While adding Earl Thomas could be a big add for the defensive secondary the linebackers group took just as big a loss in C.J. Mosley. The offense will be required to shorten the game while the defense finds itself. This means a lot of running the ball and less pass game work for the receivers and tight ends. That is not good news for Snead.
If you want to own anyone on the Ravens offense it is going to be one of the backs and not a wide receiver. This, unfortunately, includes Snead. He may have one or two boom weeks, making him usable in best ball. But even then he is not going to be solid enough to warrant a selection. Stay away from the receivers in Baltimore, whether it be Snead or teammate Brown. Neither should really be in play for redraft leagues.
