Willi Castro Signs Minor-League Deal With Twins
2 years agoThe Minnesota Twins signed free-agent infielder Willi Castro to a minor-league deal on Friday that includes an invitation to major-league spring training. Castro can play pretty much all over the diamond, but he spent most of his time in 2022 with the Detroit Tigers in the outfield. He finished the year hitting .241/.284/.367 with a .651 OPS, eight home runs, 31 RBI, 47 runs scored and nine stolen bases in 392 plate appearances and 112 games for Detroit. The 25-year-old won't be assured a major-league roster spot out of spring training, but he should see time at the big-league level with the Twins at some point as a utility bat.
