Walker Lockett Debuting Friday Against Reds
7 years agoThe San Diego Padres will call up starter Walker Lockett from Triple-A El Paso to make his major league debut Friday. He'll get the ball at home against the Cincinnati Reds. Lockett, 24, has been in the Padres system since 2012. If he pitches well on Friday, Lockett will have an opportunity to make at least one more start while starter Joey Lucchesi recovers from a hip strain. His minor league track record is mediocre at best, most recently posting a 5.31 ERA (4.97 FIP) and 1.45 WHIP in 10 starts this season for the Chihuahuas. Lockett will have a chance to prove himself in the friendly confines of Petco Park while the Padres get to evaluate what they have in the rookie. Fantasy owners can safely avoid Lockett for Friday's matchup.
