The Minnesota Vikings fired head coach Mike Zimmer on Monday. The Vikings also fired general manager Rick Spielman after the Week 18 win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday. Minnesota finished 8-9 and missed the playoffs for a second straight season. Zimmer, 65, was hired in 2014 after he spent six years as the Bengals defensive coordinator. Spielman had been with the team since 2006, first as the vice president of player personnel and then as the GM, a role he had since 2012. Zimmer went 72-56-1 and made three trips to the postseason (two playoff wins) in eight seasons with the Vikings. Minnesota's defense has mostly been to blame the last two years, and they ranked 31st in total defense in 2021, which was the worst ranking of any unit during Zimmer's tenure. The Vikings D allowed 128 points in the final two minutes of a half this year, which is the most allowed in league history since 1970.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
