Texans Agree With Derek Rivers, Terrance Mitchell
4 years agoThe Houston Texans agreed to terms with free-agent outside linebacker Derek Rivers on a one-year deal worth $1.3 million. The fourth-year veteran spent part of last year with the Los Angeles Chargers but is a former third-round pick of the New England Patriots, so he will reunite with general manager Nick Caserio. The Texans also signed former Cleveland Browns cornerback Terrance Mitchell to a two-year deal worth up to $7.5 million. Rivers has dealt with injuries in his three NFL seasons, playing in just 19 games (zero stats) while recording seven combined tackles, six QB hits and 2.5 sacks. The 28-year-old Mitchell started all 16 games for the Browns in 2020 and recorded 65 tackles, three forced fumbles and 13 pass breakups. The two signings add to a long list of additions by new GM Caserio in his first season with the team.
