Texans Add Phillip Lindsay To Backfield
4 years agoThe Houston Texans signed Pro Bowl running back Phillip Lindsay to a one-year deal worth $3.25 million on Friday, according to a source. The deal includes $1 million guaranteed and another $500,000 possible in incentives. Lindsay was a restricted free agent, but he and the Denver Broncos mutually agreed to part ways after he was relegated to backup duties behind Melvin Gordon III in 2020. The former undrafted free agent was a Pro Bowler in his rookie season in 2018 and had two straight 1,000-yard rushing seasons to begin his career, but he finished with just 118 carries, 502 yards and a touchdown in 11 games (eight starts) last year while fighting through injuries and ceding touches to Gordon. Lindsay will join a crowded backfield that includes David Johnson, Mark Ingram II and Buddy Howell. Expect Lindsay to be part of a committee, making him nothing more than a low-end RB3/flex in deeper leagues.
