Reds Re-Sign Derek Dietrich
5 years agoThe Cincinnati Reds re-signed infielder/outfielder Derek Dietrich to a minor league deal with an invitation to major league spring training on Wednesday. Dietrich had a career-high 19 home runs and drove in 43 runs in 113 games for Cincinnati in 2019, but he hit just .187/.328/.462 and struck out 74 times. He's useful to the Reds and those in NL-only leagues because of his versatility on the diamond, but it could be hard for him to win a utility job in 2020 after the Reds beefed up their offense in the offseason. At best, Dietrich could be a DFS sleeper when he's in the lineup if he wins a bench job again.
