Patriots Re-Sign James White
4 years agoThe New England Patriots re-signed running back James White to a one-year, fully guaranteed $2.5 million deal on Wednesday, according to a source. The 29-year-old spent the first seven seasons of his career with the Pats after he was taken in the fourth round of the 2014 draft. The three-time Super Bowl champion is viewed as the team's top pass-catching back, but it's fair to wonder how much fantasy upside he has with quarterback Cam Newton returning for another season. White had 49 catches last year and has 369 in his career. He rejoins a backfield that includes Damien Harris, Sony Michel, J.J. Taylor and Brandon Bolden. White will only be an RB3/flex option in deep PPR leagues, but fantasy managers can probably expect more headaches with New England's backfield on a weekly basis.
