K'Lavon Chaisson Signs One-Year Deal With Commanders
Former New England Patriots edge rusher K'Lavon Chaisson is signing a one-year deal for $12 million on Wednesday with the Washington Commanders, sources told Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. Chaisson will give Washington more edge-rushing help in 2026 after he had a career-high 7.5 sacks in 16 regular-season games (10 starts) with the Patriots in his lone season with the team. In addition to his 7.5 sacks, the 26-year-old outside linebacker had 31 tackles (18 solo), 10 tackles for loss, 18 QB hits, two pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown. In his new home in D.C., Chaisson should be a starter on the edge opposite another newcomer in Odafe Oweh. The additions of both Chaisson and Oweh are significant for the Commanders' defensive line going into 2026. They finished tied for 12th in sacks (42) last year.

Commanders Sign Leo Chenal to a Three-Year Deal
The Washington Commanders have signed linebacker Leo Chenal to a three-year deal, according to Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic. The former third-round pick hit free agency for the first time in his career this offseason, following a four-year stint in Kansas City. Across 14 games (12 starts) with the Chiefs last season, he totaled one interception, two passes defended, two sacks, five quarterback hits, and 58 tackles. The University of Wisconsin product played a key role in Kansas City, and he should have similar responsibilities in a Washington defense looking to make key improvements from last season. He should start opposite Frankie Luvu and is presumably the Commanders' preferred choice to replace free agent Bobby Wagner on defense.

Commanders, Odafe Oweh Agree to Four-Year Deal
The Washington Commanders have signed free-agent edge rusher Odafe Oweh to a four-year, $100 million contract that includes $68 million guaranteed, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com. Oweh spent his first 4.5 NFL seasons with the Baltimore Ravens before being acquired by the Los Angeles Chargers during the 2025 regular season. He appeared in 17 games last year, amassing 7.5 sacks, 18 quarterback hits, and 38 tackles. Over the last two seasons combined, he has recorded 17.5 sacks. Oweh will provide a key pass-rushing presence within a Commanders' defense that previously lacked starpower. He'll be tasked with slowing down some of the talented quarterbacks in Washington's division, including Dak Prescott, Jalen Hurts, and Jaxson Dart.

Commanders Re-Sign Marcus Mariota to One-Year Deal
The Washington Commanders re-signed backup quarterback Marcus Mariota to a one-year, $7 million deal on Monday, sources told Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network. Mariota can make up to $11 million with performance-based incentives. In terms of experience and ability, the 32-year-old veteran is one of the top backup QB options in the NFL. Starter Jayden Daniels battled multiple injuries and missed significant time in 2025, leading to Mariota playing in 11 games (eight starts). The former second overall pick by the Tennessee Titans in 2015 out of Oregon completed 61.2% of his passes for 1,695 yards, 10 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He also had 297 rushing yards and another score on the ground. The Commanders are hoping that Mariota won't see as much of the field in 2026, though, which would mean Daniels has been able to stay healthy in his third NFL campaign.

Commanders Bring Back Treylon Burks on One-Year Deal
The Washington Commanders re-signed former first-round wide receiver Treylon Burks to a one-year deal worth a maximum of $4 million on Friday, a source told Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. Burks, who was taken 18th overall by the Tennessee Titans in 2022 out of Arkansas, was a bust in his three years in Nashville and was barely healthy, playing only 27 games (17 starts) and catching 53 of 92 targets for 699 yards and one touchdown. After being cut by the Titans, the Commanders scooped him up, and Burks had 10 receptions for 130 yards and a touchdown on 22 targets in eight games played last year in D.C. The 25-year-old obviously didn't do enough to be rostered in most fantasy leagues, but he could have a much bigger opportunity for Washington in 2026 with Deebo Samuel Sr. hitting free agency this offseason. Burks is worth watching going into training camp this summer.

Commanders Re-Sign Jake Moody to One-Year Deal
The Washington Commanders are re-signing kicker Jake Moody to a one-year deal on Friday, a source told Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. Moody spent time with the Commanders, San Francisco 49ers, and Chicago Bears in 2025 in his third year in the NFL. The 26-year-old former third-round selection by the Niners in 2023 out of Michigan played in six games with Washington, going 10-for-11 on his field-goal tries and 10-for-11 on extra points. Overall, he made 19 of 23 field-goal attempts (2-for-2 from 50-plus yards) and went 15-for-16 on extra points in nine games. Moody will enter the 2026 season as the Commanders' starting placekicker, but fantasy managers should be able to find more consistent options in 12-team leagues. Moody has a career 78% success rate on his 82 field-goal attempts through three seasons in the NFL.

Commanders to Release Marshon Lattimore
The Washington Commanders informed veteran cornerback Marshon Lattimore (knee) that they are releasing him, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. Lattimore will hit the open market after suffering a torn ACL in his knee last November. He was scheduled to make $18.5 million in 2026, including a $2 million roster bonus next week. The 29-year-old four-time Pro Bowler and former Defensive Rookie of the Year only played in nine games in D.C. last year before his knee injury, recording 27 tackles (16 solo), one interception, seven pass breakups, and a fumble recovery. Lattimore hasn't played in more than 10 games in a single season since 2021 with the New Orleans Saints, which was also the last time he was a Pro Bowler. Heading into his age-30 season, the oft-injured defensive back and former first-rounder might be greeted with a cold market as he recovers from his ACL tear.

Commanders Re-Sign Nick Allegretti to Two-Year Deal
The Washington Commanders and veteran offensive lineman Nick Allegretti agreed to a new two-year deal on Monday, a source told Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Allegretti, a three-time Super Bowl winner with the Kansas City Chiefs, started the last two games for Washington at center in 2025 in place of the injured Tyler Biadasz (ankle, knee), who is being released. The 29-year-old was originally selected withthe 216th overall pick in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL draft by the Chiefs out of Illinois. Allegretti played the first five years of his NFL career in Kansas City before joining Washington in 2024. He started only 13 of the 74 games he appeared in with the Chiefs, but he has started 21 of 33 games for the Commanders over the last two seasons. It looks like Allegretti will at least be competing for starting center duties this summer.

Tyler Biadasz Being Released by Washington
The Washington Commanders are releasing center Tyler Biadasz on Thursday, according to the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The former Pro Bowler with the Dallas Cowboys in 2022 spent the last two years with the Commanders and started all 31 games that he appeared in. The 28-year-old spent the first four years of his career in Dallas after they selected him in the fourth round in 2020 out of Wisconsin. Biadasz has made at least 15 starts in each of the last five years, and he should attract plenty of attention around the league from teams in need of a center this offseason.

Jaylin Lane Has Value in Deep Leagues Going into his Sophomore Season
Washington Commanders wide receiver Jaylin Lane ended his rookie season on Injured Reserve due to an ankle injury, but flashed promise at times during the 2025 season. The young receiver out of Virginia Tech played behind veteran wide receivers Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel Sr. for the majority of his debut season, tallying just 225 yards on 16 catches. However, Deebo is set to hit free agency in March, which opens the door for Lane to compete for the team's second option at wide receiver. Lane was primarily an intermediate-to-deep threat who averaged 14.7 air yards per target over his 15 games played, and is an intriguing option for deep-league fantasy managers looking for volatility in the late rounds. For dynasty managers, Lane remains a good stash player with upside on a promising offense.

Commanders to Play in London in 2026
The Washington Commanders announced on Wednesday that they will have a regular-season game in London in 2026. The Commanders will be the host team at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium against an unnamed opponent. It will be Washington's third international game. They lost to the Miami Dolphins in their last international game in Madrid, Spain, in 2025 and tied with the Cincinnati Bengals at Wembley Stadium in London in 2016. The Commanders surprised everyone by making it to the NFC Championship in 2024 in quarterback Jayden Daniels' rookie season. Daniels struggled with injuries last year, though, and the team finished 5-12 and in third place in the NFC East to miss the postseason in 2025. Washington's game in London will be one of three that the NFL hosts there next season, with the Jacksonville Jaguars serving as the host team in the other two.

Zach Ertz Plans to Return for 14th Season
Three-time Pro Bowl tight end Zach Ertz (knee) plans to return in 2026 for a 14th NFL season and is expected to be cleared right around Week 1, sources told Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network. Ertz, who will be a free agent next month, is two months into rehab from a torn ACL. The 35-year-old veteran ranks fifth in catches and eighth in yards among tight ends in NFL history, including 50 catches for 504 yards and four touchdowns in 13 games last before before suffering his season-ending knee injury in Week 14 against the Minnesota Vikings on Dec. 7. Given his age and uncertainty about whether he'll actually be 100% ready to play in the season opener this fall, Ertz's fantasy stock will drop considerably going into the 2026 season. In his first year in Washington in 2024, Ertz had a 66-654-7 line in 17 games played.

Luke McCaffrey Was Trending Up Before Injury
Washington Commanders wide receiver Luke McCaffrey (collarbone) had been ascending into a larger role on offense before suffering a season-ending injury in Week 9. McCaffrey suffered a broken collarbone on a kickoff return, ending his season roughly halfway through the year. He only had 11 catches at the time, as most of his contributions had come on special teams. However, he had started to take on more volume just prior to the injury. From Week 3 through Week 8, McCaffrey had 10 catches, 184 yards, and three touchdowns. He ranked as the overall WR42 in PPR leagues during that six-week span. Once the former third-round pick out of Rice recovers from his injury, he'll have a chance to compete for even more targets in this Commanders offense led by new offensive coordinator David Blough. Terry McLaurin remains the top pass-catcher in Washington, but veteran wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. and veteran tight end Zach Ertz (knee) are both headed for free agency. There are plenty of vacated targets to go around, and while the Commanders will surely add pass-catchers in the draft and free agency, McCaffrey might get first dibs on the lion's share of those targets because of his experience and familiarity within the Washington system.

Jacory Croskey-Merritt in Line for Starting Role in 2026?
Washington Commanders running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt was a seventh-round pick in 2025 following an unorthodox finish to his college career, and he became a popular sleeper pick heading into his first season. With the Commanders' running back room lacking obvious star talent, the path was there for the explosive young back to claim the top spot. Following an early-season injury to Austin Ekeler, Croskey-Merritt was given multiple chances to secure the role. While he was never able to take a stranglehold of the position, injuries and ineffectiveness around him never let him stray too far from relevance. With Ekeler set to hit the open market and Chris Rodriguez Jr. a restricted free agent, Washington will likely bring in another back to compete for touches. However, after putting up two of his best games against divisional foes over the final month of the season, Croskey-Merritt should have every chance to compete for a primary role again in 2026.

Zach Ertz's Productivity Threatened by ACL Tear
Washington Commanders impending free agent tight end Zach Ertz (knee) may be 36 years old, but he has continued to be a productive pass-catching weapon on the offensive side of the ball. Ertz had 50 catches for 504 yards and four touchdowns across 13 games, ranking as the overall TE19 in PPR leagues. He has 11 touchdowns over the last two seasons, averaging 10.1 fantasy points per game during that span. His final stat line from 2025 is even more impressive when you remember the quarterback situation he was dealt. Jayden Daniels missed plenty of time due to injury, so Ertz found himself catching passes from Marcus Mariota. He was shut down for the season by the time Josh Johnson earned any quarterback snaps, though. Ertz tore his ACL in Week 14, leaving plenty of question marks about his availability for 2026. Furthermore, he's a free agent this offseason, so we don't even know if he'll end up back in Washington. It's quite possible that a team with an established, young No. 1 tight end signs Ertz, allowing him to recover before filling a depth role. That'd be a rough scenario for fantasy managers, so selling high on him in dynasty leagues might be the right choice this offseason.
