New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart played well in Saturday's 31-12 win over the New York Jets. The rookie threw for 137 yards off 14-for-16 passing. He also accounted for two touchdowns, finding tight end Greg Dulcich in the third quarter for a 20-yard score before capping off his night with a trip to the end zone off a one-yard run. Dart, the No. 25 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, has looked good throughout the preseason. While Russell Wilson is the starter heading into Week 1, Dart should enter the equation at some point. He may not get a chance to start in 2025, limiting his redraft value. However, the 22-year-old has plenty of upside for dynasty managers. With two wins in the books, the Giants will close out the preseason on Thursday night versus the New England Patriots.--Dennis ClausenSource: ESPN

Baltimore Orioles right-hander Tyler Wells (elbow) lasted five innings in his third Triple-A rehab start on Friday. Wells allowed three earned runs on six hits and posted five strikeouts against one walk on 77 pitches (52 strikes). He's expected to make at least one more start with Triple-A Norfolk before pitching for the Orioles for the first time since April 2024. Wells underwent elbow surgery in June 2024 and has spent over a year recovering. He was a solid part of the O's rotation from 2022-23, a 48-appearance span in which he made 43 starts and logged a 3.93 ERA with 7.8 K/9 and 2.5 BB/9 in 222 1/3 innings. With the 30-year-old continuing to build up his pitch count in the minors, he'll be a candidate to rejoin Baltimore's rotation when he comes back.--Connor ByrneSource: MiLB.com

Green Bay Packers quarterback Malik Willis played the first three series for the Packers on Saturday afternoon as Green Bay edged by the Indianapolis Colts 23-19. Willis put up 83 passing yards on just 6-of-14 passing, as even if starting quarterback Jordan Love (thumb) had been healthy, Willis was likely starting this game anyway. With Love's injured thumb likely sidelining him for the preseason finale next week, Willis' snaps were probably handled a bit more cautiously as he's slated to start the season as Love's backup if needed. Love is expected to start for the Packers in Week 1 at home against the Detroit Lions, but Willis shouldn't be rostered in any fantasy football leagues unless the team rules out Love for the Packers' season opener.--Kevin Tompkins - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Victor Scott II (ankle) sprained his left ankle and had to leave early on Saturday against the New York Yankees, John Denton of MLB.com reports. Scott suffered the injury trying to rob Aaron Judge of a home run in the third inning. He stayed in the game and played through the discomfort until the Cardinals replaced him with pinch-hitter Garrett Hampson in the sixth. Scott ended the night 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored, and the 24-year-old speedster is now hitting .223/.311/.312 with five homers, 35 RBI, 49 runs scored, and 31 stolen bases over 402 plate appearances. It's not yet clear whether he'll require a stint on the 10-day injured list. UPDATE: Scott is undergoing an MRI exam, according to manager Oliver Marmol. If he cannot play on Sunday, the Cardinals will need to make a roster move.--Connor ByrneSource: John Denton - MLB.com

Green Bay Packers running back Emanuel Wilson was a distant third in the running back pecking order as Green Bay squeezed by the Indianapolis Colts 23-19 in the Packers' second preseason contest. Wilson got his first touch early in the second quarter when MarShawn Lloyd and Chris Brooks were done for the day, and received his final snaps at the end of the first half. Totaling 65 total yards on five carries and one catch on two targets, Wilson led the Packers' skill-position players in total yards. Despite that, it seems like Wilson might be the odd man out in the running back room after the second preseason game. With Wilson seemingly fourth among running backs in Green Bay, he shouldn't be drafted in any fantasy leagues going forward.--Kevin Tompkins - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

Green Bay Packers running back Chris Brooks looked to continue carving out a role in the Packers' backfield and stated his case in the team's 23-19 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday afternoon. Mixing in with MarShawn Lloyd, Brooks saw the second-most snaps with the Packers' starters, per Pro Football Focus' Nathan Jahnke. Seeing mostly late-down work, particularly on third down, Brooks may have an opening to see a little bit of work behind Josh Jacobs and Lloyd as the third running back, ahead of Emanuel Wilson. From Week 6 through the end of last season, Brooks averaged 15 snaps a game for the Packers in 2024 as the third back in a rotation with Jacobs and Wilson. Brooks looks to be in line for that same role this season, but unfortunately, it's not a fantasy-friendly role, even with an injury ahead of him. Keep him undrafted or on waivers to begin the season.--Kevin Tompkins - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

Texas Rangers second baseman Marcus Semien (hand) was absent from the starting lineup during Saturday's loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. Semien missed this game after waking up on Saturday with a swollen wrist after getting hit by a pitch during Friday's contest. He underwent X-rays which came back negative for any fractures or serious damage. That being said, Semien could miss a few days until the swelling goes down, but he shouldn't require a stint on the injured list. Fantasy managers should check back on Sunday for another update on his status.--Andy WebbSource: Shawn McFarland

Kansas City Royals first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino (illness) was removed early during Saturday's game against the Chicago White Sox. Pasquantino was pulled out of the game after his first-inning strikeout due to a heat related illness. This doesn't sound like a serious issue, so Pasquantino should be back in the lineup in a day or two. Nick Loftin took over at first base on Saturday. He could see a start or two over there if Pasquantino misses more time. Fantasy managers should check back on Sunday for another update.--Andy WebbSource: Kansas City Royals

Miami Marlins outfielder Kyle Stowers (side) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Saturday. Stowers was reportedly held out on Saturday as a precaution, but manager Clayton McCullough announced he's going to the shelf due to a Grade 1 left side strain. This is the type of injury that is going to take several weeks to heal. That being said, Stowers might not be back until possibly mid-September. That's a tough blow to the Marlins lineup considering Stowers breakout campaign. For now, fantasy managers should stash Stowers on their IR until more news is known. Heriberto Hernandez started in left field on Saturday. Also, outfielder Joey Wiemer was recalled to take over Stowers' spot on the active roster.--Andy WebbSource: Daniel Alvarz-Montes

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Zack Wheeler (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day injured list on Saturday. Wheeler is going to miss an unknown period of time due to blood clots near his right shoulder. This could explain why Wheeler has been struggling on the mound lately. The Phillies will take the cautious approach and shut down Wheeler for the time being. They haven't offered any timetable on Wheeler, but that probably won't be known until they see how he responds to treatment. The loss of Wheeler means the Phillies probably won't be going with a six-man rotation anymore. Wheeler has been excellent this season with a 2.71 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, and a league-leading 195 strikeouts in 24 starts this season. Fantasy managers will need to stay tuned for more updates on his status.--Andy WebbSource: Jeff Passan

Chicago Cubs relief pitcher Daniel Palencia (illness) didn't take the mound during the ninth inning of Saturday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Instead, Brad Keller was tasked with recording the final three outs on Saturday. Afterwards, manager Craig Counsell said that Palencia was feeling under the weather, so they gave him a day off. This probably wasn't a bad idea considering Palencia gave up the go-ahead home run in the top of the ninth inning on Friday. Despite that, Palencia has been excellent with a 1.85 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, and a 46/11 K/BB ratio with 16 saves this season. He figures to return to his gig as the primary closer in a few days.--Andy WebbSource: Andy Martinez

Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Josh Lowe (oblique) was scratched from the starting lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the San Francisco Giants. He was originally penciled in to play right field, but will now head to the bench due to oblique tightness. For now, fantasy managers can consider Lowe as day-to-day, but oblique issues often times result in injured list stints. Everson Pereira will move into the lineup and cover center field while Jake Mangum slides into right field. Fantasy managers should check back for another update on Lowe.--Andy WebbSource: Marc Topkin

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin "remains frustrated" regarding his contract situation. Fowler added that there are teams still interested in acquiring the wideout. However, the front office is optimistic both sides "can reach some sort of a compromise," although it won't be a situation where "he plays out the year of his contract or on a franchise tag next year." McLaurin is coming off a stellar season. He finished the 2024 campaign by amassing 82 catches for 1,096 yards while finding the end zone a career-high 13 times. The Commanders recently removed him from the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list. Still, the move doesn't mean a resolution to the standoff is on the horizon. With that in mind, the latest update from Fowler should at least provide some optimism for fantasy managers, especially for those who took a risk and selected McLaurin for their squads heading into Week 1.--Dennis ClausenSource: Jeremy Fowler

New York Jets wide receiver Xavier Gipson (shoulder) exited Saturday's preseason game against the Giants and is questionable to return. Gipson had already entered the contest with the same injury, making this setback concerning for the third-year receiver. Across his first two NFL seasons, the former Stephen F. Austin product has recorded 27 catches for 268 yards and one touchdown. Gipson is firmly on the roster bubble and needed strong preseason performances to secure his spot. His absence could open the door for Brandon Smith to carve out a role as the Jets evaluate their depth chart.--Shaun AlbinSource: New York Jets

The Los Angeles Rams declined to comment on reports of quarterback Matthew Stafford's (back) possible workout Saturday morning. Stafford has been absent from training camp practices all summer due to disc aggravation in his back and has yet to appear in preseason action, leaving questions about his readiness for Week 1. Head coach Sean McVay is expected to provide clarity when he meets with the media Monday. Stetson Bennett IV started Saturday's preseason game against the Chargers in Stafford's place. The veteran remains the unquestioned starter when healthy, but at this stage of his career, he is best viewed as a two-quarterback or superflex-league option only.--Shaun AlbinSource: Sarah Barshop

San Francisco 49ers running back Patrick Taylor Jr. (shoulder) will miss the rest of the preseason after dislocating his shoulder in Saturday's 22-19 win over the Raiders. The veteran back logged minus-six yards on four carries before exiting, though the entire backfield struggled behind poor blocking. Taylor is competing with Isaac Guerendo and Jordan James for depth behind Christian McCaffrey, but both Guerendo and James are also dealing with injuries. That should bolster Taylor's roster security, especially with his proven special teams value. While not fantasy relevant, he is likely to open the season on the 49ers' 53-man roster.--Shaun AlbinSource: Nick Wagoner

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Jalen McMillan (back/head) was ruled out of Saturday's preseason game against the Steelers after taking a hard fall in the first quarter. The rookie wideout made a highlight-reel catch before being flipped by defensive back Daryl Porter and landing on his head. With Chris Godwin (ankle) still recovering from last year's injury, Tampa Bay's receiver depth is being tested early. If McMillan misses time, the Buccaneers will likely turn to Trey Palmer or rookie Emeka Egbuka to fill in. Fantasy managers should monitor updates, though McMillan profiles as a waiver-wire watch more than a redraft target. UPDATE: McMillan entered the locker room after the game wearing a neck brace.--Shaun AlbinSource: Alan Saunders

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson (hamstring) remains without a firm return date as he continues his recovery from a preseason injury. Head coach Kevin O'Connell said Jefferson is "hopefully going to start doing more and more," but the team is being cautious with its superstar. Jefferson is coming off another elite season, posting 1,533 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns in 2024. With rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy preparing for his first year as a starter and Jordan Addison suspended to open the season, Jefferson's health is critical. He remains an early first-round fantasy pick this season.--Shaun AlbinSource: Kevin Seifert

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Quentin Johnston (head) left Saturday's preseason game against the Rams after taking a hard hit on the third play from scrimmage. The third-year wideout is competing for snaps behind veteran Keenan Allen and remains in the mix for a rotational role this season. Johnston has flashed big-play potential but continues to struggle with consistency, recording a 7.7% drop rate last season. Despite posting 711 yards and eight touchdowns last year, he remains more of a wait-and-see option for fantasy managers and should be monitored as a potential early-season waiver-wire target.--Shaun AlbinSource: Ryan DePaul

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Teddy Bridgewater will start Saturday's preseason matchup against the Steelers, just 11 days after signing with the team. The veteran recently returned to the NFL and now provides valuable leadership and stability behind starter Baker Mayfield. While Bridgewater won't push Mayfield for the starting job, he offers an experienced safety net for a team with playoff aspirations. His primary competition is Kyle Trask, who remains in the mix for backup duties. Bridgewater doesn't carry fantasy relevance outside of deep two-quarterback formats, but his presence strengthens Tampa Bay's overall quarterback room.--Shaun AlbinSource: Scott Smith

New England Patriots wide receiver Mack Hollins caught all three of his targets for 38 yards during Saturday's preseason contest. The veteran receiver is competing for a roster spot in New England, with Kendrick Bourne and Efton Chism III representing the biggest obstacles in his way. Saturday's performance will certainly help his case. Not only did he finish second on the team in catches and receiving yards, but he also showcased physical talent by making a difficult toe-tap catch on an inaccurate pass thrown by Drake Maye near the sideline. Hollins scored at least four touchdowns in three of his last four seasons, including a team-high five last year in Buffalo. However, he's not an immediate threat to produce in New England and should be left on waivers in most fantasy leagues for the time being.--Andersen PickardSource: NFL.com

Dallas Cowboys rookie running back Jaydon Blue (ankle) has been ruled out for Saturday's preseason matchup against the Ravens. The fifth-round pick out of Texas has flashed big-play ability, and could eventually push for carries behind Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders. Both veterans have struggled with consistency in recent years, creating a potential path for Blue to carve out a role if he can stay healthy. Tonight, Miles Sanders, Deuce Vaughn, and Phil Mafah will handle backfield work in his absence. Blue remains a dynasty stash with intriguing upside for fantasy managers.--Shaun AlbinSource: Todd Archer

Minnesota Vikings running back Ty Chandler rushed three times for 12 yards and dropped his only target on Saturday against the New England Patriots. It was yet another uninspiring performance for the UNC product, who doesn't appear to be a lock to make Minnesota's 53-man roster. Chandler's best case at this point may be as a returner, especially after the Vikings lost receiver Rondale Moore (knee) for the season, but Zavier Scott is also lurking as a viable RB3 candidate who has put together a good camp and back-to-back strong showings in the preseason. This will be a battle to watch in the coming weeks.--Nick Piotrowicz - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

Minnesota Vikings running back Zavier Scott turned in another quality performance on Saturday against New England, accumulating 44 receiving yards on three catches to go with 28 yards on 10 carries. While the former undrafted rookie didn't find much room on the ground, he once again proved dangerous with the ball in his hands as a pass catcher. After an uninspiring day from incumbent RB3 Ty Chandler, Scott looks to be making a serious case to be the third option out of the Minnesota backfield.--Nick Piotrowicz - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Max Brosmer earned extended playing time Saturday against the New England Patriots, completing 15 of 27 passes for 156 yards and an interception. It was a decent if unremarkable showing for the undrafted rookie, who played his final season of college football at the University of Minnesota and has made an interesting case the be the Vikings' third quarterback. Brosmer is unlikely to hold much fantasy value beyond a taxi squad lottery ticket, but has been a solid preseason performer for the Vikings thus far.--Nick Piotrowicz - RotoBallerSource: ESPN
Share:

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Howell had a rough showing Saturday, completing just one pass from five attempts for 13 yards with a brutal interception. The veteran, who is on his third team in three years, is still the favorite to backup J.J. McCarthy, but hasn't been convincing during this preseason. Howell did add 14 yards on three rushes leading the offense without top receivers Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, but the Vikings also took long looks at Brett Rypien and Max Brosmer on Saturday. From a fantasy perspective, Howell is only roster-worthy as McCarthy insurance in deep formats.--Nick Piotrowicz - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Tim Jones nabbed five of eight targets for 68 yards, all team highs, on Saturday against the New England Patriots. The veteran is aiming to make Minnesota's 53-man roster, which should have room for an extra receiver with Jordan Addison (suspension) set to miss the first three games and Rondale Moore (knee) out for the season. Jones' fantasy value is tied to whether he actually makes the club, and on Saturday, he looked capable of being a depth option.--Nick Piotrowicz - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

Houston Astros outfielder Yordan Alvarez (hand) was able to take eight live at-bats in West Palm Beach on Saturday. Now, Alvarez will return to Houston on Sunday to determine the next steps in his rehab process. Alvarez has been sidelined since early May due to a fractured hand. That being said, Alvarez is likely going to need a lengthy rehab assignment before rejoining the Astros lineup. Barring any setbacks, Alvarez should hopefully be able to return to Houston by September. Fantasy managers might still be able to get something out of Alvarez this season. Fantasy managers will need to check back for another update.--Andy WebbSource: Chandler Rome
