Texas Rangers outfielder Wyatt Langford (side) was out of the lineup for a 6-4 loss to the Miami Marlins on Friday with "side tightness," manager Bruce Bochy said. Bochy added that Langford is day-to-day and may have to sit out Saturday's game. Side issues often lead to oblique injuries, which have been a problem for Langford this season. He has been on the 10-day IL twice this year with oblique strains (one on each side), giving the Rangers more incentive to play it safe with him. The 23-year-old has set career highs in homers (21) and stolen bases (21) while slashing .241/.342/.427 with 72 runs scored and 61 RBI in 567 plate appearances this season. Alejandro Osuna filled in for Langford in left field on Friday.--Connor Byrne

Pittsburgh Pirates right-handed pitching prospect Bubba Chandler will start on Saturday against the Athletics, manager Don Kelly announced. It'll be the third start for the highly touted Chandler, who has gone 2-1 with a 5.66 ERA, a 1.16 WHIP, and 19:4 K:BB over five appearances and 20 2/3 innings. The 23-year-old was brilliant last Saturday in a win over the Washington Nationals, whom he held to one run on two hits with seven strikeouts against no walks in six frames. He'll face a stiff test versus the Athletics' offense, which is seventh in the majors in OPS and 12th in runs scored in 2025. The A's rank an even better third and eighth, respectively, in those categories this month.--Connor Byrne

Athletics second baseman Zack Gelof (shoulder) dislocated his left shoulder in a 4-3 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday and will miss the rest of the season, according to Martin Gallegos of MLB.com. Gelof suffered the injury on a diving play in the bottom of the fifth inning and exited the game immediately. This will go down as an injury-wrecked season for Gelof, who missed the first three months of the year as a result of a fractured hamate bone in his hand and a stress reaction in his rib cage. After making his 2025 debut on July 4, the 25-year-old slumped to a .174/.230/.272 line with two homers, seven RBI, 12 runs scored, and a stolen base over 30 games and 101 plate appearances. Darell Hernaiz took over at second in Gelof's place on Friday and could get most of the playing time at the keystone for the rest of the season.--Connor Byrne

The Los Angeles Dodgers announced that they have placed reliever Michael Kopech (knee) on the 15-day injured list with inflammation in his right knee and recalled righty Will Klein from Triple-A Oklahoma City. This is the third trip to the IL this year for Kopech, who missed over two months after undergoing surgery on a torn meniscus in his right knee in early July. This issue doesn't seem nearly as serious, though, as manager Dave Roberts said that Kopech is still "pitchable." Nevertheless, it will end an injury-ravaged regular season for Kopech. The righty threw just 11 innings and put up a 2.45 ERA with a 1.73 WHIP, 12 strikeouts, 13 walks, and six holds.--Connor Byrne

Los Angeles Angels closer Kenley Jansen did not travel to Colorado for the team's weekend series against the Rockies. The high altitude in Colorado can cause complications with Jansen's heart condition, so he stayed behind and will not be available to pitch again until the Angels return home on Sept. 23. This has been yet another strong season for the 37-year-old, who has been superb lately. Jansen has gone eight appearances in a row without giving up a hit or a run, which has lowered his ERA to 2.68 with a .98 WHIP, 52:19 K:BB, and 27 saves over 57 innings. With Jansen out, Brock Burke, Luis Garcia, and Robert Stephenson are among the Angels' candidates for saves over the next couple of days.--Connor Byrne

Seattle Mariners right-hander Bryan Woo (pectoral) was masterful in a 4-0 win over the Houston Astros on Friday. However, he exited early with a "little" bit of pectoral tightness, manager Dan Wilson told reporters. Woo is likely to undergo an MRI on Saturday. The 25-year-old tossed five innings of one-hit ball with seven strikeouts and a walk before coming back out for the sixth, throwing a couple of warmup pitches, and exiting with a trainer. Wilson doesn't seem concerned about the severity of Woo's injury, which is fortunate for AL West-leading Seattle as it closes in on a playoff berth. Woo has been one of the key reasons for the Mariners' success this season, having gone 15-7 with a 2.94 ERA, a .94 WHIP, and 198:61 K:BB over 186 2/3 innings. For now, he's scheduled to make his next start on Thursday against the Colorado Rockies.--Connor Byrne

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Jose Berrios is moving from the starting rotation to the bullpen, manager John Schneider announced. He's losing his spot to the recently promoted Trey Yesavage, who will take on the Kansas City Royals in his second career start on Sunday. Berrios had been penciled in for that game, but the Jays are demoting the 31-year-old as a result of a prolonged slump. After Berrios posted a 5.83 earned-run average in June and a 4.64 ERA in July, he has logged a 5.56 mark in three outings this month. Overall, Berrios has gone 9-5 with a 4.06 ERA, a 1.29 WHIP, 135 strikeouts, and 54 walks in 164 innings this season. He's about to enter unfamiliar territory as a reliever, having come out of the bullpen in just one of his 274 career appearances.--Connor Byrne

Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Max Muncy is out of the starting lineup ahead of Friday's game against the San Francisco Giants. Unsurprisingly, the Dodgers will play matchups and bench Muncy against left-hander Robbie Ray. Muncy hasn't played much recently as he's only started in one of the last four games. The left-handed slugger hasn't done much with the bat lately and is a platoon player at this stage in his career. However, Muncy is always a threat to go deep at the plate when he's in the lineup. On Friday, Enrique Hernandez will take over third base and bat eighth versus Ray.--Andy Webb

Los Angeles Dodgers infielder/outfielder Tommy Edman is back in the starting lineup ahead of Friday's game against the San Francisco Giants. Edman has found himself on the bench in three of the last six games coming into Friday's contest. Possibly, the Dodgers are just trying to be cautious with Edman who recently came off the injured list. Regardless, Edman will cover center field and bat fifth versus left-hander Robbie Ray on Friday. Fantasy managers who have Edman rostered can go ahead and get him into their lineups ahead of first pitch.--Andy Webb

San Francisco Giants outfielder Jung Hoo Lee is out of the starting lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Lee is now taking a seat for the second time in the last three games. His absence on Friday makes sense with left-hander Clayton Kershaw on the mound for Los Angeles. Lee has been struggling lately as he's hitless over his last 20 at-bats. Hopefully, a night off will help him get back on track. Drew Gilbert will take over in center field and bat ninth on Friday. Lee isn't someone that needs to be rostered in all 12-team formats right now.--Andy Webb

San Diego Padres infielder Xander Bogaerts (foot) was scheduled to do an on-field workout on Friday. Sadly, that session was rained out, so Bogaerts return to the field will be pushed back slightly. Now, the plan is for Bogaerts to be activated from the injured list ahead of Monday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers. He'll continue to workout with the team, but the Padres are going to wait a few more days before bringing Bogaerts back into the mix. This season, Bogaerts is slashing .262/.330/.387 with 10 home runs, 49 RBI, and 20 steals in 131 games. He should be able to give fantasy managers in the playoffs a boost down the stretch.--Andy Webb

Athletics infielder Zack Gelof (shoulder) was forced to make an early exit from Friday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Gelof suffered a left shoulder injury while making a diving play during the fifth inning. The A's decided to take the cautious approach and immediately remove him from the contest. He figures to undergo additional imaging to determine the severity of the injury. Darell Hernaiz took over at second base and could see increased playing time over there if Gelof misses time. Before exiting, Gelof went 0-for-1 at the plate with a walk and a run scored. Fantasy managers should check back on Saturday for another update on his status.--Andy Webb

Los Angeles Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel (wrist) was activated from the 10-day injured list on Friday, and he is back in the starting lineup, playing first base and batting leadoff against Colorado Rockies right-hander Bradley Blalock at Coors Field. It will be Schanuel's first action in the big leagues in over three weeks due to a left-wrist bruise. During his minor-league rehab assignment, the left-handed hitter went 4-for-8 with a double and three runs scored. The 23-year-old former first-rounder will look to finish off his second full season in the big leagues strong. Schanuel typically isn't a great source of counting stats at the first base position, but he'll have more DFS sleeper appeal this weekend at hitter-friendly Coors Field. He is returning to a very modest .266/.355/.383 slash line, .738 OPS, 10 home runs, 49 RBI, 61 runs, and five steals on the year in 125 games.--Keith Hernandez

The Detroit Tigers called up infielder Jace Jung from Triple-A Toledo on Friday after placing infielder Colt Keith (rib cage) on the 10-day injured list with right rib-cage inflammation. Jung will rejoin the big-league roster to close out the regular season as infield depth with Keith on the shelf. While the 24-year-old could see some action at the hot corner to close out the month, Zach McKinstry and Andy Ibanez will be Detroit's top options to replace Keith until the postseason. In just 18 games for the Tigers this year, Jung went 5-for-45 (.111) with no homers, three RBI, seven walks, and 15 strikeouts in 53 trips to the plate. He was better in his rookie season last year, slashing .241/.362/.304 with no homers, three RBI, and a 29:15 K:BB in 34 games. The former first-rounder hit .252/.370/.447 with 17 homers and 74 RBI in 110 games at Toledo this year.--Keith Hernandez

The Detroit Tigers announced on Friday that they placed infielder Colt Keith (rib cage) on the 10-day injured list with right rib-cage inflammation and recalled infielder Jace Jung from Triple-A Toledo in a corresponding move. The Tigers initially announced that Keith left Thursday's game against the Cleveland Guardians with a back injury. The 24-year-old does not have any structural damage, but he's going to miss the rest of the regular season. They will be hoping that he can rejoin the team for the playoffs, and it will help if Detroit is able to secure a first-round bye. Keith has been a lineup regular for the first-place Tigers this year and will end his 2025 season by hitting .256 (106-for-414) with 13 home runs, 45 RBI, and 65 runs in 137 games. Zach McKinstry will be the team's primary option at third with Keith out.--Keith Hernandez
