Athletics infielder Zack Gelof (shoulder) was forced to make an early exit from Friday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Gelof suffered a left shoulder injury while making a diving play during the fifth inning. The A's decided to take the cautious approach and immediately remove him from the contest. He figures to undergo additional imaging to determine the severity of the injury. Darell Hernaiz took over at second base and could see increased playing time over there if Gelof misses time. Before exiting, Gelof went 0-for-1 at the plate with a walk and a run scored. Fantasy managers should check back on Saturday for another update on his status.--Andy Webb
