Heston Kjerstad Demoted to Triple-A
Heston Kjerstad to Triple-A Norfolk and reinstated outfielder Cedric Mullins (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. Kjerstad gets caught in a roster crunch with Baltimore's outfield getting healthy. The 26-year-old former second overall pick in 2020 out of Arkansas has not been able to carve out a regular role with the team since debuting in 2023. In 54 games this year, he went 30-for-156 (.192) with four home runs, five doubles, two triples, 19 RBI, 16 runs scored, a steal, six walks and 45 strikeouts in 167 plate appearances. Kjerstad has a .218/.284/.365 slash line, .649 OPS, 10 homers, 36 RBI and 88 strikeouts in 106 games played at the big-league level since 2023. He has hit the ball hard, but he's just not making enough contact.Source: Baltimore Orioles
The Baltimore Orioles announced on Tuesday that they optioned outfielder Cam Caminiti Looks Good in First Start at Single-A
Source: MiLB.com
Atlanta Braves pitching prospect Cam Caminiti made his Single-A debut this past Saturday and did not disappoint. The Braves' top-ranked prospect allowed one earned run on one hit and one walk while striking out eight batters over five innings of work. The Braves' 2024 first-round draft pick made just one start at Single-A last year after being drafted and missed the first part of this year due to forearm tendinitis. The southpaw made four starts with the team's Florida Complex affiliate before debuting on Saturday, and despite a high ERA, struck out 15 hitters in 13 2/3 IP while walking just two. At only 18 years old, the 6-foot-2 hurler has a few years before he hits the big leagues, but in growing up with baseball in his blood (he's the cousin of the late Ken Caminiti) and with a first-round pedigree, there's a good chance he'll have a fantasy impact when that happens.Orioles Reinstate Cedric Mullins From 10-Day Injured List
Cedric Mullins (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list and optioned outfielder Heston Kjerstad to Triple-A Norfolk in a corresponding move. The Orioles haven't released their lineup for Tuesday's tilt against the visiting Detroit Tigers, but Mullins may be on the bench with left-hander Brant Hurter on the mound. Mullins skipped a minor-league rehab assignment after straining his right hamstring in late May. His return will push Jorge Mateo back to a reserve infield role with Colton Cowser shifting to a corner outfield spot now against right-handed pitchers. Mullins has a .232 batting average on the year but also sports a .218 xBA, so he's not going to help fantasy managers at all in the average department. The 30-year-old does already have 10 homers and eight steals through 50 games, though.Source: Baltimore Orioles
The Baltimore Orioles announced on Tuesday that they reinstated outfielder Jordan Westburg Back From 10-Day Injured List
Jordan Westburg (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list and designated infielder Emmanuel Rivera for assignment in a corresponding move. The Orioles haven't released their lineup for Tuesday's game against the visiting Detroit Tigers, but Westburg figures to be back in there against left-hander Brant Hurter. The 26-year-old has been out since late April with a strained left hamstring, but he should be the club's starting third baseman now that he's back. In his eight minor-league rehab games with Norfolk, he went 11-for-28 with two home runs. Fantasy managers will be hoping he can carry that over after a slow start with the bat before his injury. The former first-rounder went 20-for-92 (.217) with four homers and six RBI in his first 23 games. Westburg was an All-Star in 2023 and hit 18 bombs in 107 games played. UPDATE: Westburg is at third base and batting sixth on Tuesday.Source: Baltimore Orioles
The Baltimore Orioles announced on Tuesday that they reinstated infielder Jacob Misiorowski Being Called Up, Expected to Start on Thursday
Jacob Misiorowski, one of the best pitching prospects in baseball, on Tuesday, according to sources. Misiorowski is ranked as the 30th overall prospect in the game by ESPN's Kiley McDaniels and has a fastball that has reached 103 mph this year. He's expected to start on Thursday against the division-rival St. Louis Cardinals in his MLB debut. MLB Pipeline considers the 23-year-old to be Milwaukee's No. 4 prospect. Although Misioriwowski's control has been an issue in the past, it's been better this year and he's posted a 2.13 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with 80 strikeouts and 31 walks in 63 1/3 innings over his 13 outings (12 starts) for Nashville. A learning curve is expected, but Misiorowski should be an immediate waiver-wire priority, and he could stick around in Milwaukee's rotation for the rest of the year.Source: ESPN.com - Jeff Passan
ESPN's Jeff Passan reports that the Milwaukee Brewers are calling up right-hander Kyle Tucker Crushes Home Run No. 13
Kyle Tucker went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in his team's 4-3 road loss to the Philadelphia Phillies. The 28-year-old added two walks and scored twice. Tucker got the Cubs on the board in the top of the first with a solo shot off Phillies starter Zack Wheeler, though they wouldn't score again until the eighth. It was his thirteenth long ball of the season. He notched his second run of the matchup in the eleventh when teammate Pete Crow-Armstrong doubled him home. Tucker has slowed down some in June, going just 5-for-21 (.238), but it was nice to see him go yard for the first time since jamming his finger last week. Despite the slight slump, four of his five hits in the month have gone for extra bases.Source: ESPN
Chicago Cubs outfielder Otto Lopez Reaches Base Thrice in Defeat
Otto Lopez went 1-for-1 with a solo home run in Monday's 10-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates. He also drew two free passes. The Dominican Republic native belted his sixth long ball of the season in his first at-bat, giving the Marlins a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning. However, it'd be the last time they sat atop the scoreboard in Monday's lopsided defeat. Lopez is riding a four-game hit streak, notching two homers and two steals in that span. Despite an unappealing .233/.311/.375 triple slash, the 26-year-old is underproducing quite a bit. In addition to an average nearly 50 points lower than his .282 xBA, Lopez's .482 xSLG is a much more palatable figure than the one he holds. His career-low .243 BABIP figures to rise in short order.Source: ESPN
Miami Marlins second baseman Matt Olson Blasts Two-Run Bomb in Win
Matt Olson went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in his team's 7-1 win against the Milwaukee Brewers. The veteran also walked twice. Olson knocked in teammate Austin Riley to culminate a three-run fifth inning with a 417-foot blast to dead-center. It came off Brewers' reliever DL Hall's first pitch of the outing, and was dinger No. 14 on the season for him. The 31-year-old is sporting one of his lowest averages against righties in 2025 (.227). However, he's underperforming his .269 xBA by over 30 points (.238). Furthermore, Olson holds the best quality of contact metrics of his career -- boasting personal-bests in average exit velo (94.2 MPH) and hard-hit rate (56.3%).Source: ESPN
Atlanta Braves first baseman Ronald Acuna Jr. Notches Fifth Round-Tripper
Ronald Acuna Jr. went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's 7-1 road win over the Milwaukee Brewers. He also scored twice and drew two walks. The 27-year-old superstar crushed an Aaron Civale offering 404 feet the opposite way to record his fifth long ball in 16 games since being reinstated from injury. Acuna Jr. has wasted no time reacclimating himself to big-league pitching, batting a strong .305 (18-for-59) with two doubles, eight RBI, and 12 runs scored (.999 OPS). While it's too small a sample to draw any definitive conclusions, the Venezuelan native's average exit velocity (97.1 MPH) and hard-hit rate (67.6%) would put him in the top 2% and 1% of batters, respectively, if they qualified.Source: ESPN
Atlanta Braves outfielder Ivan Herrera Jacks Three-Run Home Run Monday
Ivan Herrera went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in his team's 5-4 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. He added a single for his second straight two-hit outing. The 25-year-old blasted his seventh long ball of 2025 off Blue Jays pitcher Yariel Rodriguez in the bottom of the eighth inning to cap a four-run rally and take their first lead of the matchup, 4-3. However, it wasn't enough to pick up the win. Herrera tallied a lone extra-base hit over a 15-game stretch that started in mid-May, but he's picked it up since then with three over the last five days -- including two homers. The Panama City native has cooled some, but is still slashing a robust .322/.397/.568 with eight doubles, 31 RBI, and 19 runs scored (34 appearances).Source: ESPN
St. Louis Cardinals catcher Max Muncy Goes Yard, Swipes Bag in Loss
Max Muncy went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in his team's 7-4 loss to the Los Angeles Angels. The 22-year-old added a single and notched his first steal of the season. Muncy launched his fourth homer in the top of the ninth inning, but that'd be the final hit his team could muster. He's gone yard in back-to-back games and thrice since being recalled last Wednesday. The A's No. 6 prospect wasn't so successful in the majors before being sent down to Triple-A. However, upon his demotion, he slashed an excellent .325/.397/.504 with 22 RBI, 24 runs scored, 11 doubles, a triple, and three homers (31 games). He's 6-for-21 (.286) in five June appearances.Source: ESPN
Athletics second baseman Will Smith Smacks Sixth Homer
Will Smith went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Monday's 8-7 road win against the San Diego Padres. He also picked up an RBI on a sac fly. Smith went yard for the sixth time this season in the top of the third off Padres pitcher Nick Pivetta, scoring teammate Freddie Freeman to give LA a 5-3 lead. He's been superb this season, batting .320 (56-for-175) with the second-highest on-base percentage in the league (.423) behind only Aaron Judge. The Louisville product is chasing at his lowest rate since 2020 (18.8%), and drawing a walk at a 15.0% clip, which puts him amongst the top 5% of all hitters.Source: ESPN
Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Jo Adell Hits Home Run No. 12 on Monday
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell went 2-for-4 with a single, a home run, and three RBI in his team's 7-4 win on Monday night. Adell is up to 12 long balls on the season, read more...
Yusei Kikuchi Dominant in Start Against A's
Yusei Kikuchi blanked the Athletics over 7 1/3 innings of one-hit ball in Monday's 7-4 home win. The 33-year-old struck out five and walked one in the brilliant performance. Kikuchi overwhelmed the A's early, retiring the first 13 batters he faced before yielding a single and a walk in the fifth. However, he'd quickly end the threat with a groundout and cruise through the remaining 2 1/3 innings of his outing. It's the veteran's first quality start in nearly a month (May 12), improving to 2-5 in 2025. He held a 1.89 ERA in May and has continued his success as the calendar turned with a 2.19 ERA in two June starts. His overall ERA on the year is strong (2.92), but he has an inflated 1.47 WHIP due to his issue with free passes, allowing four or more in seven of his 14 starts.Source: ESPN
