Astros Hopeful Isaac Paredes Can Avoid the Injured List
Isaac Paredes (hamstring) is dealing with a left-hamstring strain, but he's not going on the injured list. Manager Joe Espada seemed hopeful that Paredes can avoid a trip to the IL altogether. The 26-year-old came up lame on Thursday night against the Chicago White Sox while trying to beat out a double-play ground ball and sat out of Friday's series-opening blowout win over the Minnesota Twins. While he may not return for Game 2 of the series against the Twins on Saturday, it sounds like the Mexican third baseman might not miss extended time. It's great news for fantasy managers, as Paredes has been one of the Astros' most productive hitters in his first year with the team. He already has 15 home runs, 42 RBI and 37 runs scored in 251 at-bats. Mauricio Dubon could see additional starts at the hot corner until Paredes returns.
