New Orleans Saints right tackle Taliese Fuaga (knee) is officially active for Sunday's Week 2 contest against the San Francisco 49ers. He had been listed as questionable but was trending in the right direction prior to gameday. Fuaga has started all 18 games since being drafted, allowing seven sacks and 43 pressures through 1,116 offensive snaps. He'll look to protect Source: New Orleans Saints
Shedeur Sanders Didn't Want to Play Behind Lamar Jackson, Nixed Ravens Pick
Shedeur Sanders with their fifth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, but once the quarterback heard about the Ravens' plans, he nixed the pick. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Sanders "let it be known to Baltimore that he didn't want to be on a roster with Lamar Jackson." The Ravens pivoted to offensive lineman Carson Vinson with the No. 141 pick, and Sanders landed with the Browns three selections later. Schefter's report seems to indicate that Sanders didn't have anything against Jackson in particular, and his concern was more about being stuck behind any quarterback who wasn't going to relinquish their starting role anytime soon. He likely would have had a similar reaction to being drafted by any team with an established starter, which is why Cleveland ended up being an ideal landing spot for him. While Joe Flacco is the Browns' starter for the time being, Sanders has a chance to start games later this season if Flacco struggles or Cleveland's playoff hopes are destroyed.

Taliese Fuaga Expected to Play in Week 2

New Orleans Saints offensive tackle Taliese Fuaga (knee) remains listed as questionable heading into the Week 2 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. Despite that, Nick Underhill reports that Fuaga is expected to suit up for this contest. Fuaga missed Wednesday's practice, but was able to get in two limited sessions to finish the week. Trent Williams Remains Questionable for Week 2
Mac Jones. The plan is for Williams to test his knee pre-game before making a final decision. If he sits, Spencer Burford would be in line to take over at left tackle.

San Francisco 49ers offensive tackle Trent Williams (knee) remains listed as questionable ahead of the Week 2 matchup against the New Orleans Saints. Williams made an early exit from the season opener due to a knee injury. He was able to return to the contest, but appears to still be dealing with the knee issue. The absence of Williams would be a huge loss to the 49ers' offensive line. It would be a major downgrade for the blind side of Source: Adam Schefter
49ers Not Optimistic Brock Purdy Will Play in Week 3
Brock Purdy (toe) is unlikely to play in Week 3 against the Arizona Cardinals. Purdy will be absent in Week 2, and it sounds like he'll miss multiple games due to a turf-toe issue. There's a chance that Purdy misses as many as five games from this injury. Backup Mac Jones will be under center in Week 2, and it sounds like he'll be drawing multiple starts. Jones doesn't offer a ton of upside, but he has value in superflex fantasy formats for those desperate at the QB position already. It sounds like the 49ers are going to need to lean on him for at least two games.

C.J. Stroud Looks to Help the Texans Bounce Back vs. the Buccaneers
C.J. Stroud is hoping for a bounce-back season after a down year in 2024, but the new season didn't start well in the Texans' 14-9 loss to the Rams in Week 1. Stroud was limited to just 188 passing yards while completing 19-of-27 passes. He was under pressure from the Rams' strong pass rush most of the day and wasn't able to create enough big plays down the field. His interception came on a pass that was snatched out of the hands of his receiver, so it wasn't really on him. However, he didn't make enough big plays or lead any touchdown drives. Even with new offensive coordinator Nick Caley in command, the issues from last season were evident once again in Week 1. Stroud and the Texans will look to get on track against the Buccaneers in the first game of Monday Night Football's doubleheader, but with how rough the Texans' offense looked, it's hard to support Stroud as a QB1. In the RotoBaller rankings, he's QB17, making him a decent QB2 but a long shot to start in standard, single-QB leagues.

Caleb Williams Focusing on Improving Accuracy
Caleb Williams on being more consistent with his footwork to improve his accuracy as a thrower. Per ESPN's Courtney Cronin, Johnson said that there were "probably three or four" throws from Williams' Week 1 performance against the Minnesota Vikings that "we would want back." Williams completed 60% of his 35 pass attempts against Minnesota for 210 yards and a touchdown. He gets a decent matchup in Week 2 against a Detroit Lions defense that may be without All-Pro safety Kerby Joseph (knee). Still, Williams is tough for fantasy managers to trust until he proves he can be more consistent. Williams profiles as a fantasy QB2 in Week 2 who can be started in Superflex leagues but should be avoided in single-QB formats.

Giants Have No Urgency to Bench Russell Wilson
Russell Wilson doesn't appear to be on the hot seat at the moment. After a lackluster season opener, Wilson's starting job was being called into question by the media. Despite that, the Giants are going to stay committed to Wilson as their starting quarterback. According to Adam Schefter, there is no urgency for the Giants to make a change at quarterback. As expected, the Giants want Jaxson Dart to sit behind Wilson and develop. The Giants don't want to rush an inexperienced quarterback onto the field. It sounds like for the moment, Wilson will remain the starter, but he could also play himself out of the starting job.

Adrian Martinez Elevated for Week 2
Adrian Martinez has been elevated from the practice squad to the active roster ahead of the Week 2 matchup against the New Orleans Saints. Martinez was signed to the 49ers practice squad after failing to make the New York Jets initial 53-man roster. He wasn't expected to be anything more than a third or fourth string depth option. However, the 49ers are going to be without Brock Purdy (shoulder) and Kurtis Rourke (knee) for Sunday's game. That being said, Martinez will head to the active roster and be the backup to Mac Jones. There isn't fantasy value here with Martinez right now, but he's a name to watch if something happens to Jones.

Tristan Wirfs Ruled Out for Week 2
Baker Mayfield's blindside. The talented passer ranks as a low-end QB1 this week versus the Texans, who surrendered two touchdowns to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 1.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers left tackle Tristan Wirfs (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's Week 2 game against the Houston Texans. Wirfs underwent knee surgery during the offseason. He is inching closer toward returning, as evidenced by the Buccaneers keeping him on their initial 53-man roster, but today's news confirms he's not quite ready to play in a game yet. Charlie Heck will likely operate as the starting left tackle in Wirfs' absence. This represents a downgrade in the trenches as the Buccaneers work to protect Source: Greg Auman
Matthew Stafford Could Underwhelm in Week 2
Matthew Stafford is not a top fantasy option for Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans. Instead, he ranks as a low-end QB2. First of all, the Titans' passing defense showed major strides in Week 1, intercepting Bo Nix twice. This was the lone bright spot for a Tennessee team that struggled essentially everywhere else. Additionally, the Rams are favored to win, so they could adopt a run-heavy approach that aims to drain the clock. If so, we'll see fewer attempts from Stafford through the air. With a respectable matchup and potentially positive game script, Stafford, who lacks rushing upside, drops to the fringe top-24 range.

Justin Herbert Ready to Ride Momentum into Week 2
Justin Herbert is coming off an impressive win against the Kansas City Chiefs, where he threw for 318 yards and three touchdowns. He also added 32 rushing yards, including a crucial run late in the fourth quarter on a 3rd and 13 to seal the game. This week, Herbert faces a Las Vegas Raiders defense that was surprisingly strong against the run last week but allowed over 280 yards to New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye. This matchup could lead to a more pass-heavy game plan, giving Herbert a chance to showcase his accuracy and chemistry with his receivers. With a healthy group of weapons and no new injury concerns, Herbert is expected to perform well in an offense that now appears more balanced than previously thought. RotoBaller projects Herbert as the QB5 this week, making him a must-start in all formats.

Trevor Lawrence Upgraded Against Weak Bengals Defense
Trevor Lawrence succeeding in fantasy because of it. After a 26-10 blowout victory on the back of the defense and run game led to disappointing 10 point fantasy day, Lawrence will be looking to right the ship in a game where the game script should favor more passing. The Jaguars QB has always shown potential to succeed in fantasy with his arm talent and solid rushing ability, and now has elite weapons at his disposal. If he were to break out early this season, this week seems like the prime week to do so. Lawrence should be viewed as a high-end QB2 with QB1 upside this week against the Bengals.
