Buffalo Sabres defenseman Mattias Samuelsson (upper body) is week-to-week after aggravating his injury. The 25-year-old sustained an upper-body injury at practice last week and has been off the ice since Thursday. Buffalo begins its regular-season slate against the New York Rangers next Thursday, and Samuelsson will likely have a question mark hanging over him leading up to the game. If Samuelsson isn't ready for opening night, the Sabres will need Ryan Johnson or Jacob Bryson to step in. With Bowen Byram (undisclosed) also nursing an injury, the team might start the season without two of its backline regulars.--Taavi Pailk
