Randy Rodriguez Earns Fourth Save Of Season Monday
Randy Rodriguez picked up his fourth save of the season in Monday's 4-3 win over the Padres. Rodriguez came in to pitch the bottom of the ninth inning up by one. He got the first out on a ground-out, allowed a single, and got the final two outs on a pop-out and a fly-out. The 25-year-old has had a bit of a rocky transition to the closer's role after the team traded Camilo Doval at the trade deadline, allowing three earned runs in 4 2/3 innings of work. However, he has converted three of four save opportunities in that time and has a stellar 1.63 ERA, a 0.89 WIHP, and an 11.96 K/9 rate in 49 2/3 IP this season. The Giants are not in as competitive a position as they were earlier in the season, but Rodriguez should have opportunities to provide fantasy value down the stretch.Source: MLB.com
San Francisco Giants closer Tyler O'Neill Throws Monday, Sept. 1 Return Up in the Air
Tyler O'Neill (wrist) started baseball activities, including throwing, on Monday and was almost pain-free, per MASN's Roch Kubatko. O'Neill was placed on the 10-day injured list retroactive to August 6 with right wrist inflammation. The 30-year-old said he wasn't sure if he would be ready to return on his September 1 date or if he would need a rehab assignment. As throughout his career, O'Neill has made three trips to the IL this season, each for a different injury. Perhaps it has been the numerous injuries, but O'Neill hasn't gotten things going offensively this season, slashing .210/.293/.434 with eight home runs, 23 RBI, and two stolen bases in 164 plate appearances.Source: Roch Kubatko - X.com
Baltimore Orioles outfielder Jorge Soler to Continue Testing for Lower-Back Inflammation
Jorge Soler (back) will continue to receive testing after being placed on the injured list for lower back inflammation. This is the 33-year-old's second stint on the IL this season due to back issues. Montgomery said that Soler does not have a timetable for his return, but he is staying optimistic that he will return at some point this season. Soler is running out of time to return and have a fantasy impact. He was in the midst of a down offensive season before going on the IL, slashing .215/.293/.387 with 12 home runs and 34 RBI in 315 plate appearances. 26-year-old Bryce Teodosio should continue to see playing time in Soler's absence. Teodosio showed high batting average, power, and speed skills in his time with Triple-A Salt Lake, so he could be worth a look in deep five-outfielder leagues.Source: Thomas Murray - The Sporting Tribune
Los Angeles Angels manager Ray Montgomery said Monday that outfielder Dominic Canzone Hit By Pitch Monday, X-Rays Negative
Dominic Canzone (wrist/hand) exited Monday's 12-7 loss to the Phillies after getting hit by a pitch in his right wrist/hand in the seventh inning. He stayed in to run the bases but was replaced defensively in the eighth inning by Luke Raley. Canzone went 1-for-2 with a single and a strikeout before exiting. Fortunately, he said after the game that X-rays were negative, so fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day. The 28-year-old has been a surprise contributor when in the lineup this season, slashing .289/.348/.456 with seven home runs, 20 RBI, and two stolen bases in 198 plate appearances.Source: Daniel Kramer - X.com
Seattle Mariners outfielder Kyle Freeland Exits Monday's Start Early Due To Blister
Kyle Freeland (finger) exited Monday's 4-3 win over the Dodgers with a blister on his pitching hand, per MLB's Manny Randhawa. Freeland made it through four innings, allowing two runs on six hits and a walk with five strikeouts. He came out to warm up for the fifth inning but was ultimately relieved by Jaden Hill. Fantasy managers should look for more news in the coming days, but blisters have proven pesky for numerous pitchers over the last several seasons. Freeland has provided valuable innings for the Rockies this season but has offered limited fantasy production, going 3-12 with a 5.16 ERA, a 1.50 WHIP, and a 6.36 K/9 in 23 starts and 120 1/3 innings. His next scheduled start would be a favorable matchup at the Pirates if he were able to take the mound.Source: Manny Randhawa - X.com
Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Colson Montgomery Exits Early Monday With Left-Side Soreness
Colson Montgomery (side) exited Monday's 13-9 win over the Braves early due to left side soreness, per the team's official X account. Montgomery went 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout before being replaced defensively in the sixth inning. Fantasy managers should keep an eye out for further details and should pay attention to Tuesday's lineup. The 23-year-old, who was a former fantasy prospect, has shown plenty of power upside but also high strikeout liability since getting called up at the beginning of July, slashing .220/.285/.492 with 10 home runs, 28 RBI, and a 29.0% strikeout rate in 145 plate appearances.Source: Chicago White Sox - X.com
Chicago White Sox third baseman/shortstop Matt Chapman Progressing Quickly
Matt Chapman (hand) took grounders on Monday and will hit on the field on Wednesday, reports Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News. He was only placed on the 10-day injured list three days ago with right hand inflammation, so it's encouraging to see that he is already doing on-field work. The 32-year-old's injured list stint retroactively dates back to August 13, which means he is eligible to return to the major league roster as early as Saturday. No official timetable has been given, but it appears he should be able to return next week at the latest if everything goes smoothly.Source: Justice delos Santos

Cole Ragans Completes Bullpen Session
Cole Ragans (shoulder) completed a 35-pitch bullpen session on Monday and introduced offspeed stuff for the first time in his recovery, reports Anne Rogers of MLB.com. This is good news for the lefty, who remains on the 60-day injured list with a left rotator cuff strain after last pitching on June 8. Even that start was his first outing back from an injured list stint caused by a groin strain, so the Royals have essentially been without their ace since May 16. The 27-year-old got knocked around for an unsightly 5.18 ERA in 10 starts this season, but it looked like positive regression was on the way, as he remained an elite strikeout artist with 76 in 48 ⅔ innings. If his recovery continues without issue, Ragans could make his long-awaited return to the rotation in early September.Source: Anne Rogers
Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Tanner Scott and Kirby Yates Beginning Rehab Assigments on Tuesday
Tanner Scott (elbow) and Kirby Yates (back) are both expected to begin a rehab assignment in Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday. Scott last pitched on July 21 before being placed on the 15-day injured list with left elbow inflammation, and Yates was also placed on the injured list with lower back pain after last pitching on July 26. The good news for both of them is that rehab assignments are typically much quicker for relievers, and both of them should see themselves back into high-leverage situations for the big league club before the end of the month. Scott is likely to be the one more in the mix for saves, as he has tallied 19 this year compared to Yates' three.Source: MLB.com
Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitchers Enrique Hernandez and Hyeseong Kim Starting Rehab Assignments
Enrique Hernandez (elbow) and second baseman Hyeseong Kim (shoulder) are both expected to begin rehab assignments in Triple-A Oklahoma City this week, reports Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. Hernandez has been out since July 5 with left elbow inflammation and has recently been participating in batting practice without issue. Kim has been sidelined since July 28 with left shoulder bursitis and was also recently able to take batting practice pain-free. He has a much better chance to see regular at-bats than Hernandez upon returning, as he's posted a .304 batting average and .338 on-base percentage this season and could become a primary infield option until Tommy Edman gets healthy.Source: Fabian Ardaya
Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Ryan Weathers Throws Live Batting Practice on Monday
Ryan Weathers (lat) was scheduled to throw live batting practice on Wednesday, according to MLB.com's Christina De Nicola. It will be the first time that Weathers has faced live hitters since landing on the injured list in early June with a lat strain. If the 25-year-old southpaw gets through Monday's session without suffering a setback, it's possible that he'll be cleared to begin a minor-league rehab assignment later this week. The Marlins are not going to rush him back, but Weathers is expected to return to the team's starting rotation in the final month of the season in September. Due to injuries, he's managed to make only five starts in 2025, but he's pitched well, sporting a 3.28 ERA (4.45 FIP) and 1.05 WHIP with 23 strikeouts and eight walks in 24 2/3 innings thrown. Obviously, Weathers doesn't have much left to offer in fantasy this year.Source: MLB.com - Christina De Nicola
Miami Marlins left-hander Max Muncy Starting to Feel Better, Doing Rotational Work
Max Muncy (oblique) is starting to feel better and will do rotational work on Monday, reports Sonja Chen of MLB.com. He was recently placed on the 10-day injured list with a right oblique that he sustained early last week. It was unfortunate timing for the veteran, who had just returned from the injured list on August 4 after recovering from a bone bruise in his knee. The 34-year-old has put up an excellent .389 on-base percentage with 17 home runs in 89 games this season, but this oblique injury is expected to sideline him for longer than the minimum stay. Expect a clearer timetable to be released after he progresses further in his recovery.Source: Sonja Chen
Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Tommy Edman on Track for September Return
Tommy Edman (ankle) is participating in baseball activities and looks to be on pace to return at some point in September, reports Sonja Chen of MLB.com. He has been on the 10-day injured list with a right ankle sprain that has kept him out of game action since August 1. Baseball activities are a good start, but he'll still have to build up to the point where he can run with max effort and likely go on a rehab assignment before returning to the majors. The 30-year-old had been in a lengthy slump after starting the season out strong, and he's now batting only .228 with a .281 on-base percentage on the season. He'll be looking to make his return and finish out the year with a strong final month.Source: Sonja Chen
Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Pulled With Hamstring Tightness
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (hamstring) left Monday's series opener against the Pittsburgh Pirates early due to left-hamstring tightness, according to the team. Guerrero was replaced by Ty France at first base after going 0-for-2 with an RBI and a strikeout. Fantasy managers will be holding their breathe while Guerrero undergoes additional testing on his hamstring. We should know more on the severity of the 26-year-old's injury either later on Monday or Tuesday morning. But if he is forced to miss extended time, France would be the one to benefit the most in Toronto with regular playing time at first base. Vladdy Jr. has been a must-start in fantasy again in 2025 and came into Monday's tilt with a cool .300/.398/.500 slash line, .898 OPS, 21 home runs, 68 RBI, 83 runs and five stolen bases in 464 at-bats.Source: Toronto Blue Jays
