Marcus Semien Could be Out All Weekend, IL Stint Possible
Marcus Semien (foot) is not in the team's starting lineup for Friday night's contest versus the Cleveland Guardians. Jeff Wilson of DLLS Sports reports that Semien could miss the entire weekend series against the Guards and might need to go on the 10-day injured list. Ezquiel Duran will make the start at the keystone on Friday against Guardians right-hander Slade Cecconi and will hit eighth. The 34-year-old Semien fouled a ball off his left foot in Thursday's loss to the Kansas City Royals and was initially diagnosed with a foot contusion. He's apparently still sore and will need at least a couple more days to recover. If Semien isn't ready to go early next week, an IL move could be made. If Semien goes on the IL, both Duran and Josh Smith could share playing time at second. Semien has had a disappointing year and hasn't turned it around in August, hitting .221 (15-for-68).
