San Francisco Giants third baseman Matt Chapman (hand) took grounders on Monday and will hit on the field on Wednesday, reports Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News. He was only placed on the 10-day injured list three days ago with right hand inflammation, so it's encouraging to see that he is already doing on-field work. The 32-year-old's injured list stint retroactively dates back to August 13, which means he is eligible to return to the major league roster as early as Saturday. No official timetable has been given, but it appears he should be able to return next week at the latest if everything goes smoothly.--Jeremy Heist
