Randy Rodriguez Earns Fourth Save Of Season Monday
Randy Rodriguez picked up his fourth save of the season in Monday's 4-3 win over the Padres. Rodriguez came in to pitch the bottom of the ninth inning up by one. He got the first out on a ground-out, allowed a single, and got the final two outs on a pop-out and a fly-out. The 25-year-old has had a bit of a rocky transition to the closer's role after the team traded Camilo Doval at the trade deadline, allowing three earned runs in 4 2/3 innings of work. However, he has converted three of four save opportunities in that time and has a stellar 1.63 ERA, a 0.89 WIHP, and an 11.96 K/9 rate in 49 2/3 IP this season. The Giants are not in as competitive a position as they were earlier in the season, but Rodriguez should have opportunities to provide fantasy value down the stretch.
