Packers Trying To Restructure Aaron Rodgers' Contract
4 years agoThe Green Bay Packers are trying to negotiate a restructured contract with quarterback Aaron Rodgers that would free up salary cap space for the 2021 season. It partially explains why the Packers have yet to sign a single free agent that played for a different team so far this offseason. If the team restructures Rodgers' contract, it should give us a better idea of how they view his future with the club. Green Bay traded up in the first round to take quarterback Jordan Love, the future heir apparent to Rodgers, but the veteran signal-caller responded by leading the league in passer rating (121.5), QBR (84.4), touchdowns (48) and completion rate (70.7 percent) on his way to his third NFL MVP award. Despite his age (37), Rodgers will be drafted as a top-five fantasy QB in 2021.
