Nick Mullens Remains The Starter For Week 15
4 years agoSan Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said that quarterback Nick Mullens will remain the starter for the Week 15 game against the Cowboys. It'll be Mullens' eighth start of the year with Jimmy Garoppolo (ankle) on Injured Reserve. It could be the 25-year-old's last shot, too, especially in a very favorable matchup against Dallas and their non-existent defense. Even so, Mullens hasn't proven to be anything more than a game manager, and he'll also be missing wideout Deebo Samuel, who is out for the rest of the season with an injury. With Mullens likely on a short leash if he struggles early in Week 15, he cannot be trusted as anything more than a low-end QB2 in superflex leagues. If he gets the boot, C.J. Beathard would be next in line.
