Matt Mervis Hits 7-Day Injured List
The Miami Marlins have placed first baseman Matt Mervis (oblique) on the 7-day injured list with an oblique injury. Mervis enjoyed a hot start with the MLB club during the first month of the campaign, especially from a power perspective. Through his first 24 games in Miami, the former top prospect launched seven home runs and held a solid .806 OPS. However, over his next 18 games, he posted a .111/.200/.156 line with no long balls and would eventually get optioned to Triple-A. With Jacksonville, Mervis has begun to find his footing, posting a .246/.306/.646 slash line with three doubles, one triple, seven home runs, and 18 RBI across 17 games. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as he could be in the mix to return to Miami in the second half if he recovers well from this injury.
