Matt Chapman Could Return for Start of Giants Homestand
Matt Chapman (hand) returns for the entire homestand, which begins on Monday, July 7, against the Philadelphia Phillies. Chapman was scheduled to take batting practice on Monday before the series opener against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Giants had been aiming for the last series before the All-Star break for Chapman's return from the 10-day injured list, but he's apparently making good progress and will push to be back before then. Casey Schmitt (hand) landed on the IL on Monday, so Christian Koss is now the team's starting third baseman until Chapman can return next week. The 32-year-old Chapman has been out since June 8 with a right-hand sprain but is close to a return. If he was dropped in your fantasy league, now is the time to pick him up.
