Kolten Wong's Market Heating Up
4 years agoFree-agent second baseman Kolten Wong's market is heating up after all of the infield movement on Tuesday, according to a source. The St. Louis Cardinals, Detroit Tigers, Seattle Mariners, Tampa Bay Rays, Chicago Cubs and Philadelphia Phillies are among the teams to check in on the 30-year-old who has back-to-back National League Gold Gloves at the keystone. Wong spent each of his first eight major league seasons with the Cardinals. He finished with a .265/.350/.326 slash line and one home run in 53 games in the shortened 2020 season. In his last full season in 2019, Wong hit .285/.361/.423 with 11 home runs, 59 RBI and a career-high 24 stolen bases in 148 games. The left-handed hitter is a defense-first player, but he could provide modest counting stats in homers and steals as middle-infield depth in deep mixed and AL/NL-only leagues, depending on where he lands in free agency.
